Off the top of my head I'm thinking about the episode of Futurama where Bender the robot's floating in space and eventually encounters what might be G-d. It says, "When you do things right, people wont be sure you did anything at all." And that stuck with me. The episode showed this concept in action and it makes a lot of sense. Make your godly existence known overtly and people get dependent on you doing things for them, do too little and they loose faith.
Running with this idea, I found myself allowing for G-d to exist, and simply being wiser than I not being too overt about it for a reason along these lines.
