Today was a half day due to the pep rally in advance of the Thanksgiving Day football game. On my way out, I ran into a teacher I don't see often due to schedules, class locations, etc. Last year he had some troubles that he didn't seem to have anyone to talk to about, so we talked it out when paths crossed. A good guy. Maybe the only teacher in the school more conservative than me. We decided to grab a beer as we had been talking about doing for the better part of a year. I hadn't been out for a beer in a while, so why not? I popped into this sort of dive bar I'd driven past every day for a decade but never actually been in, and whaddayaknow but there is what seemed like half the faculty from at least two high schools in the district! I had a "Norm!" moment as some people I hadn't seen in a long time recognized me. One quick beer and I had to get home, but it was a nice way to kick off the holiday.
