who else here hates the yankees?

I guess some leagues have pitchers who are not 'fraid to break a fingernail. Enjoy your dainty nail salon pitchers.

Yup.

And I guess some leagues also have pitchers who are not 'fraid to pitch to line-ups with 8 or 9 good hitters instead of 4 or 5.

Oh, and as if the pitchers have any say over the leagues rules. :cuckoo:

oh.. you mean 8 or 9 fat guys who have nothing to do but eat hot dogs and pack their colon until it's their turn to hit?

Enjoy your babe ruths, dude. I'll keep my Lou Brocks.

Who's got 8 or 9 good hitters consistently? The Sox?

Feel free to post numbers so we can laugh that claim out the door.

Now you're just being silly. :eusa_doh:

But seriously, it's always easy for me to disagree with anyone about the DH, because I happen to be a fan of exactly the way it is. I wouldn't want either league to adopt the way the other does it.

For the longest time, I was a fan of the current status-quo as well. I'm starting to think that pitchers should hit though. It makes a manager's job so much easier when they don't have to pinch hit for a pitcher in the middle of the game in the HOPES of MAYBE being able to knock in an extra run, ultimately losing his starting pitcher who may have actually been performing pretty well up to that point.

When I like it, is during the WS when the rule changes back and forth due to travelling to the opposing league's park.

Should the rules be completely changed though, for a matter of 7 total possible games at the very end of the entire sport's season?

I'm still a fan of the status-quo. I hear what you're saying about the managerial ease thing, but I counter that with a pitching ease thing. Because of this dynamic, the NL places a higher premium on defense than the AL, and "as a general rule" they tend to have weaker hitters in the bottom third of the line-up relative to the AL.

They still have inter-league play in the regular season right?

no... i agree. I like having two leagues that are distinct in their play. Hell, I have the Royals to root for too but, to be honest, I hate all teams out of KC. Even shitty American league baseball teams.

and, I've been a Cards fan forever.

They are the class of the NL, I'll give you that.

Micah Owings

Major Leagues
Micah Owings won a spot in the Arizona Diamondbacks starting rotation in spring training 2007. He made his first major league start on April 6, pitching five scoreless innings and picking up the win against the Washington Nationals. Owings had a fine two-way game on August 18. He went 4 for 4 with a double, two home runs, 4 runs and 6 RBI in a 12-6 win over the Braves. On the mound, he fanned 7 and allowed three hits (and 3 runs) in 7 innings. His .339 average in 2007 was the fourth-highest batting average by a pitcher in the DH era. This performance earned him a Silver Slugger Award. On the mound, he finished the year with a 8-8 record a 4.30 ERA and a 106-50 K/W ratio in 152 2/3 innings of work. In the postseason, he was used as pinch hitter in the 11th inning of Game 2 of the NLCS before getting the start in Game 4, which he lost.

Only thing he doesn't do that the Babe did was eat a shit load of hot dogs during the game.

Yeah they do, but I'm not a fan of it. I liked it better when we didn't play each other until the WS. Call me a conservative.

You forgot one. I helped you with it.

To be honest, I've always been rather pissed off that Pheonix took our football Cardinals. I mean, who the fuck has ever seen a CARDINAL in the goddamn desert?

Thankfully, they have always sucked and continued to suck after the move.

I'm not sure it's even possible for them to ever NOT suck.

They're cursed. Haven't you heard the story about the championship they ripped off from some small Pennsylvania steel town?

nope. I'm not sure I know what you are talking 'bout.

Have a great ass end of the weekend, Mani!
