Why are the Democrats still having their convention in Chicago when they've already nominated her?

It looks like she is already nominated in some back channel call it in way. Is this some FEC requirement or is this just some more establishing her on stage persona and more pep rally stuff? It could be an attempt to make it appear like she has much more support than is really the case and legit with the speeches and trash talking and media boost.

Many republican states were being a little pissy about the nomination process, insisting that nominations had to be formal by August 6th to be included on the ballots. They'd made exemptions from this for both parties, every election cycle for decades.

But this year, they refused for the democrats.

So, to meet this requirement the Dems had a remote count August 1st through Aug 3. With the actual convention on the 19th or so.

And the reason for the convention is the same it always is: to come together, to talk shit about your opponent, to laud yourself, to give the nominee a grand moment to shine.
