WASHINGTON, D.C. — Last Friday, Senate Republicans successfully blocked the establishment of the January 6 commission, which would have been a 9/11-style commission whose primary intent was, according to a fact sheet released by the House Committee on Homeland Security, “investigating and reporting upon the facts and causes of the January 6 attack on the Capitol as well as the influencing factors that may have provoked the attack on our democracy”.

The commission’s demise amid a GOP filibuster was largely anticipated. A minimum of 10 Republican votes in its favor would have been required to override it – it only received six.

Upon the failure of the bill, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) opportunistically made the claim that “the Republican minority just prevented the American people from getting the full truth about January 6”, and that its basis was solely “out of fear – or fealty – to Donald Trump”.

Schumer added: “this vote has made it official. Donald Trump’s Big Lie has now fully enveloped the Republican party. Trump’s Big Lie is now the defining principle of what was once the party of Lincoln.”

This sentiment – despite being entirely devoid of substance – is poignant, as it outlines dire logistical issues with a proposed commission that would be almost completely unproductive in accomplishing what congressional investigations are meant to accomplish.

Of course, Schumer is lying; it's what Democrats do. Rejecting this bogus commission is in no way equivalent to agreeing with Trump that the election was stolen. It is to say that we basically know what happened on January 6th and why it happened, and the only things that we don't know (e.g., who killed Ashli Babbitt and why were no charges filed) will be declared off limits.

The demonstration occurred because millions of people - including Donald Trump - believed that there were very suspicious circumstances surrounding the 2020 election, and that their evidence never got a fair hearing in the courts or in Congress.

Thus a massive crowd assembled, of which a small segment became violent, fought with police, and breached the Capitol. (It should go without saying that violence - including violence against police and public buildings - was a recurrent feature of the BLM demonstrations that dominated the summer of 2020, and which continue to this day.)

After a few hours, order was restored and the Senate resumed its business. There is no need whatsoever to rehash all of that, waste time and money, merely for another round of shabby political theatre which the Dems are embarrassingly bad at.

Yet, they were able to go forward blaming Trump for it all many months ago and impeach him for it? Now half a year later they need MORE investigation to get at the truth?

Schumer added: “this vote has made it official. Donald Trump’s Big Lie has now fully enveloped the Republican party. Trump’s Big Lie is now the defining principle of what was once the party of Lincoln.”
Great Lie is an accusation. He's claiming Trump lied and made the fraud up. Still looking for the Left's evidence at all of any of this. If we have any kind of 1/6 panel, it has to be fully independent and taking in the WHOLE of the election picture!

Joe Biden winning and by 81 million votes is a greater miracle than catching lightning in a bottle!!!

You're going to really like the independent investigation that's going to happen now. And there will be no Republican input, and no time limits. And the subpoenas will be going out to a few congresscritters. And will be happening well into campaign season next year.

For what? We have these commissions and spend millions and do absolutely nothing in the end.

No one can call me a Trump supporter but I have no desire to waste millions on these things just so politicians can beat their chests.

Easy enough to go in front if them and call them liars to their face, and make a speech instead of answering their lying questions!

There were no charges filed because she was part of an angry mob trying to break down the door and talking about killing members of Congress.

But, heck, if you guys were serious about wanting to investigate that aspect, a 1/6 commission would be the place to do that.

The Trump goons' assault upon democracy will be confronted by Congress, even as the judiciary is meting out punishment to the trump goons.

The disgusting act will not be swept under the carpet, and the desperate attempts at diversion will fail.

Tuesday, July 6th, marks six months since the January 6th attack on the U.S. Capitol that disrupted a Joint Session of the U.S. Congress in the process of affirming the presidential election results. As estimated by the Architect of the Capitol, the attack caused approximately $1.5 million worth of damage to the U.S. Capitol building.
Under the continued leadership of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia and the FBI’s Washington Field Office, the investigation and prosecution of those responsible for the attack continues to move forward at an unprecedented speed and scale. The Department of Justice’s resolve to hold accountable those who committed crimes on January 6th has not, and will not, wane.
Based on the public court documents, below is a snapshot of the investigation as of Tuesday, July 6th. Complete versions of the public court documents used to compile these statistics are available on the Capitol Breach Investigation Resource Page at Capitol Breach Cases.
Arrests made: Over 535 defendants have been arrested in nearly all 50 states (this includes those charged in both District and Superior Court).
  • This works out to be an average of about three defendants arrested every single day, including weekends, since January 6th.
Criminal charges:
  • At least 165 defendants have been charged with assaulting, resisting, or impeding officers or employees, including over 50 individuals who have been charged with using a deadly or dangerous weapon or causing serious bodily injury to an officer.
    • Approximately 140 police officers were assaulted January 6th at the Capitol including about 80 U.S. Capitol Police and about 60 from the Metropolitan Police Department.
  • Approximately six individuals have been arrested on a series of charges that relate to assaulting a member of the media, or destroying their equipment, on January 6th.
  • Almost 495 defendants have been charged with entering or remaining in a restricted federal building or grounds.
    • Over 55 defendants have been charged with entering a restricted area with a dangerous or deadly weapon.
    • Over 35 defendants have been charged with destruction of government property, and almost 30 defendants have been charged with theft of government property.
  • Nearly 235 defendants have been charged with corruptly obstructing, influencing, or impeding an official proceeding, or attempting to do so.
  • Approximately 40 defendants have been charged with conspiracy, either: (a) conspiracy to obstruct a congressional proceeding, (b) conspiracy to obstruct law enforcement during a civil disorder, (c) conspiracy to injure an officer, or (d) some combination of the three.
Pleas:
  • Approximately ten individuals have pleaded guilty to a variety of federal charges, from misdemeanors to felony obstruction, many of whom will face incarceration at sentencing.
Public Assistance:
  • Citizens from around the country have provided more than 200,000 digital media tips, and the FBI continues to request the public’s assistance in identifying individuals sought in connection to the January 6th attack.
    • In particular, the FBI is currently seeking the public’s assistance in identifying more than 300 individuals believed to have committed violent acts on the Capitol grounds, including over 200 who assaulted police officers.
  • Additionally, the FBI has released 11 new videos of suspects in violent assaults on federal officers on January 6th and is seeking the public’s help to identify them. For images and video of the attackers, please visit Capitol Violence | Federal Bureau of Investigation. Anyone with tips can call 1-800-CALL-FBI (800-225-5324) or visit tips.fbi.gov.

the establishment of the January 6 commission, which would have been ~ ~ ~ “investigating and reporting upon the facts and causes of the January 6 attack on the Capitol as well as the influencing factors that may have provoked the attack on our democracy”.

LET'S BE CLEAR ABOUT THIS: Any commission the Dems ever put together would have ONE SOLE PURPOSE:
  1. To hide or ignore the role the 2020 election had in causing the riot.
  2. To further keep trying to build an additional case against Donald Trump hoping to keep him from running and winning again.
  3. To do so by further denying anything wrong with the election and the "Big Lie" all just being some wild "conspiracy" created by the Right.
  4. To build support for the story that everyone on the Right or supporting Trump are all some big, evil, domestic "threat" to America.
As such, no 1/6 commission will ever really get to the truth about ANYTHING.

Once again ,traitor. Been to Chicago lately? Or Portland? Or Minniapolis? Case closed.

Because an afternoon at the White House you were invited into doesn't come close to the billions of dollars cost of rioting, burning out businesses, deaths of innocents, looting, beating, and all the other bull shit liberal fucks allowed. I hope that will explain it in simple terms everyone understands
