In a Republic, actually
‘A group of Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent's classmates at Yale University urged him in a new letter to reconsider his role "in facilitating the Trump administration's intended transformation" of the United States "into an authoritarian state."

"Scott, please take a moment to step back, look down the road a piece, and think hard about whether you want to be responsible for enabling the descent of America into fascism," says the letter, which is dated Wednesday.

"Be brave. Stand up for what you know to be right and be a voice of reason in the midst of this insanity," the letter says.
[…]
As of Friday, 140 members of the Yale Class of 1984 have signed the online letter to Bessent, a member of that class. He is also a former adjunct professor at the university, where he taught economic history.’

If Bessent were brave or concerned about a decent into fascism, he wouldn’t have joined the Trump regime to begin with.

And concern that the Trump regime is facilitating a transformation of the United States into an authoritarian state is warranted and legitimate.

Trump will have established executive branch precedent, a template for future Republican presidents to engage in a lawless abuse of power.

After Watergate many believed there wouldn’t be another Nixon – but we got Trump, who is worse.

There will be a future Republican president, another Trump, who witnessed Trump’s corruption, Trump’s contempt for our democratic norms, contempt for the rule of law, contempt for the courts, who witnessed Trump violate court orders with impunity, who will like Trump establish a fascist authoritarian regime.

That’s the Trump threat to democracy; that’s how Trump is destroying democracy.

I speed read and skip by any post that has a link to MSN.

The new definition of fascism.
Preventing the corrupt Democrats from looting the taxpayers is fascism.
Enforcing our immigration laws is fascism.
Preventing cross-dressing men from competing in women's sports is fascism.
Removing gay porn from the school libraries is fascism.

I read everything including the MSN link. Where is this letter and the 140 signatures?

I bet they do. Yale is a disgrace to this country.
~~~~~~
I agree. Our once hallowed Universities have become a disgrace to this country. Whether it's Harvard, Columbia, Cornell, or some Blue State Universities, they are no longer in teaching our young, but indoctrinating them in anti-semitism, Marxist ideological politics and against the very ideals this country was built upon..
They've allowed people like Ayers, Dohrn, Boudin, Cloward, Piven etc...to inculcate failed Marxian ideology on our young.
Scott Bessent is a former colleague of Soros. What both sides here clearly don't get is that you're both being played. We are losing our Republic, and authoritarianism is increasing, but that would have happened with or without Trump. Why, because both 'sides' of the Duopoly are controlled by the same powers-that-shouldn't-be. I'll get ready for the inevitable downvotes now, since I'm sure that will piss off 90% of the posters here. :rolleyes:
MSN digs up an online letter from unidentified anonymous "Yale 1984 classmates" to make a political point? WTF? Is that like the 40 intelligence officers who signed a letter that called Hunter's laptop a Russian hoax?
