Crimea wanted to be free of Ukrainian oppression. I actually met with Crimeans, spoke with Crimeans IN Crimea. They wanted to go back to Russia and despised the EU. They left by VOTE. Now you may not like voting, or at least voting that doesn't go the way you wanted but in this case, the vote worked. It prevented a very bloody civil war.
