There were a lot of things the Founders supported that we've strayed from -- like keeping the federal government small.This article is spot on. We've got to wake up and stop falling for the charade of two-party politics.
Isn't that pretty much where we're headed?
Another one that has cursed governments worldwide is universal suffrage. There's a good reason the Founders made it selective. I'm not saying we should go back exactly to what they had in place, but maybe limiting the vote to landowners would be preferable. Makers should have more of a voice than takers. Otherwise, you end up with a system of "bread and circuses" as Cicero once mentioned.
The Progressive movement of the 1890s was essentially the beginning of the end when it came to retaining the premise of "limited government."
