I would be shocked if Merchan suddenly decided to act like a real jurist and granted the pending defense motion for a trial order of dismissal.

Therefore, it’s relatively easy to predict that he will do what he shouldn’t do. He will allow this shameful farce of a “case” to go to the jury.

Because it’s a deep blue jury pool which was used to select the jury, it’s highly improbable that they will be objective when they analyze the evidence. No way should they convict. But Trump’s primary hope has never been reliant on an acquittal.

His hope is that calmer and less biased minds will review this case on the merits and on the actual law (not the version peddled by “judge” Merchan) and decide to reverse the conviction should there be one.

That seems to be the conventional wisdom among the legal beagles I've been listening to re this case. With the probability of a highly tainted jury, a corrupt judge, a weaponized prosecutor, the chances Trump will be found guilty are high. The verdict of course would be immediately overturned on appeal by any ethical court of law, but we don't have that in this trial. The problem is the appeal likely won't happen until after the election.

And there is the chilling thought of a hung jury and the judge and prosecutor immediately ordering a new trial to begin that would just heap more mountains of injustice on Trump by keeping him off the campaign trail. We have a corrupt weaponized DOJ who is likely master minding the whole process and no way they will step in to intervene.

We should all pray for all twelve members of the jury to be convicted with conscience and a sense of fair play.
