The creepy Alabama Senator wants the federal government to track pregnancies

What could possibly go wrong with that?

They are attempting to disguise it by saying it will help direct women to "resources" but those are just the anti choice "crisis centers" that don't offer any actual medical services.

Do they really think people are dumb enough to fall for this transparent trick?

Alabama Senator Katie Britt, best known for delivering a bizarre, melodramatic televised response to President Biden's 2024 State of the Union address, has introduced a bill to create a federal website to collect data on pregnant people.

The bill, the More Opportunities for Moms to Succeed Act (MOMS Act), would mandate the creation of a federal website called Pregnancy.gov, which Britt calls a "clearinghouse of relevant resources available for pregnant and postpartum women, and women parenting young children."

The website would take users through series of questions, it claims, to generate a list of relevant resources of interest within the user’s zip code. The bill would also allow government officials to reach out to users for additional information.

The database would refer users to so-called "crisis pregnancy centers"; fake clinics that do not actually provide women with healthcare, but rather use deception and coercion to scare women away from getting an abortion, even if it necessary for their own health.

The bill specifically forbids any entity that "performs, induces, refers for, or counsels in favor of abortions" from being listed in the database. This would eliminate almost every actual healthcare facility from being listed in the federal database, or pressure doctors away from making necessary healthcare referrals for fear of having their facility removed.

Small government in action. The one thing both parties have in common is a desire to have more control over everyday life

And any president who is pro-choice adds abortion sources.

I don't know if both parties do this because there have been some things mandated that made sense. This however, is not one of them.

Such is the fascist, authoritarian right and conservatives’ contempt for facts and the truth.

And of course, how would the Federal Government know? Will women have to factually 'confirm' their pregnancy status each month to federal authorities in order to keep their watchlist current?

But tell us more about 'small govermment', conservatives. So we can all point and laugh.

If you actually go back and look at what Trump, running for president in 2016, said he would do if elected, he kept his word (although Mexico did refuse to pay for the wall).
Fast forward to his current run for the presidency. He very clearly said that he would veto any legislation pushing for a national ban on abortion and wants it left to the individual states, which is just fine. Under him, if you're in a blue state, a woman can get her unborn baby ripped out, ground up and used for hog feed if they want. If you're in a red state, they will place moderate to severe restrictions on woman getting abortions. If you're a pro-abortion person in a red state.....move. If you're an anti-abortion person in a blue state.....move. Either way, if you're unable to move, suck it up.
As for some pregnancy database, it won't fly, as there are plenty of blue states that would not agree to it and as Trump won't approve a nation ban on abortion, he won't approve it.

Actually he has flip-flopped repeatedly.

And I can't think of a single thing he kept his word on.

Not really. In reality, Biden has been better at delivering on Trump's broken promises than Trump was.

Like on infrastructure.

Trump:

Biden:

Or health care.

Trump:

Biden:

Or negotiation of drug prices.

Trump:

Biden:

Or seniors' drug costs.

Trump:

Biden:

Or guns.

Trump:

Biden:

Or jobs.

Trump:

Biden:

Or reshoring.

Trump:

Biden:

So it sounds like anyone who likes Trump's sudden vaguely pro-choice rhetoric would do well to elect Biden.

It's a database that creates resources for pregnant women. There is nothing in the bill that suggests tracking pregnancies. That's liberal spin from creepy source called MTN. Lefties fall for it every time. It beats talking about real issues and a doddering old fool in the W.H.

The bill would mandate the creation of the website. There's no mandate for pregnant women to sign up.

She wants a website for pregnant women to seek resources? What's wrong with that? Nobody has to "sign up".

Good grief

More “small government” from the right.
