The Founders knew what they were doing. 2A is not an historical anachronism for a time when everyone hunted deer with a flintlock musket. It is a clear-eyed view of the nature of power and government, and what happens when the government ceases to fear the people. In this case under Biden's buddy Xi, Biden who has no problem with what Xi did and remained silent the whole time.

The progs are trying so hard to establish the narrative that the 2A has nothing to do with defense from the tyranny of an overreaching govt.
It's such a laughably false casting of this fundamental right but they keep trying. We are supposed to forget this is really what the Founding Fathers had in mind when ratifying this amendment in the first place.
A lack of common sense is an identifying trait of the left

You cling to this fiction that the 2nd Amendment was created so Americans could protect themselves from a tyrannical government right?

Be reasonable. The 2nd Amendment was put in the U.S. Constitution because the founding fathers were too cheap to tax and pay for a regular army. Plus, Americans going back to Bunker Hill have had this fantasy about the "Citizens Militia.". That in any sort of time of national need the "militia" would be "called out" and that citizens would put aside their plows, grab their fowling pieces and run to the flag where they would be led by officers from a very small cadre of professional soldiers.

Our modern world is at war with itself over the very meaning of commonly understood words, the definitions of which have not changed in centuries. Radical Leftist deconstructionism is largely to blame. Those like myself who believe the Second Amendment enshrines and protects individual rights will never convince those who believe it means something else to 'see it' our way. Which is fine in a nation governed by the rule of law and fair hearings where checks and balances protect our rights from easy theft. But in a nation like ours has become where rule of law has been bought and paid for, and in a situation where those who interpret the Second in such a way as to remove our right to keep and bear arms, the only way to decide who is ultimately right about the Founders' intent is to literally go to war.

Unfortunately the government does not fear the people now . They just stole the election right in front of our eyes .and what did we do? Nothing! Not only that , people protesting the stolen election were set up and arrested . Calling them insurrectionists, making sure to fear people into trying to stop them. . Democrats are nasty.

As far as banana republics go these are early stages. Wait until Democrats start disappearing Trump supporters and throwing them out of helicopters over the ocean. Then we need our AR-15s.

This video hardly shows anything, let alone protests.
Protests happen in the US too.

There is no proof of that whatsoever.

And you think a few thousand AR-15s wielded by untrained, inexperienced, people who are at best poorly led could make any difference?

All we have to do is read their own words to see that this is a lie.

First, they feared a large standing Army and wanted the Militias always to be able to country tyrannical moves by the Federal Gov't with equal or greater force, paying for a large standing Army was never a major concern.

More like at least 10-20 million a large percentage of which are veterans and police as well as state and national guardsmen.

Our mostly untrained colonial Militias kept the US in the fight against the largest combined land and naval power in the world for 3 years.

Afghanistan and Vietnam also proved conclusively that this still works very effectively in the modern world where asymmetrical warfare used against standing professional military organizations can in the end win wars of attrition.

Right now we're watching a pip squeak army of mostly civilian volunteers and conscripts winning a war of attrition against the 2nd Most powerful military in the world using a combination of guerilla/insurgent tactics and a small standing professional army.

If it came down to it the US military would be facing a situation where every building was a fortress and every tree and bush or fencerow hiding a militiaman with a rifle.

All combined the US military would have a hard time fielding 200,000 combat soldiers even scraping the bottom of reserves and guards many of whom would refuse to fight in such a scenario.

Don't shit yourself believing the US military would be able to simply mow over the millions who would resist them and no, the USG is not going to use nukes on our own soil against Americans and very likely would not do so even against an invading army because of the long term consequences.

Moreover, civil war in the US would put all of our foreign enemies on the march and we'd have to reserve our nukes to counter any moves they made.

How is what is happening in Shanghai any different than what happened in this country in 2020?

Except they've managed to contain it to Shanghai.

You ignore a whole bunch of obvious.

During the Revolutionary War the French basically loaned us an entire fleet of ships.
