I for one oppose universal healthcare and I paid $775 a month for my insurance coverage through COBRA on my wife's employment when I needed a liver transplant. My insurance has paid out over $3 million for my care in the past 4 years. How much did I pay out of pocket to pay for my healthcare beyond my premiums? I met the out-of-pocket maximum every year except the current one. I now have my healthcare through the VA, but I still pay prescription co-pays for medicine I will take the rest of my life.
Why should I have paid in all of those funds for coverage and then have an illegal immigrant that crossed the border on an inner tube get the same coverage I paid for dearly?
I paid to stay alive, so can they!
