Rep, Victoria Spartz (R-IN) on Monday signaled that she's not on board with President-elect Donald Trump's decision to back Mike Johnson's bid for the speakership.
Shortly after renegade Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) put out a statement defying Trump's call to make Johnson speaker, Spartz sent out a message on X that also poured cold water on the idea.
"I understand why President Trump is endorsing Speaker Johnson as he did Speaker Ryan, which is definitely important. However, we still need to get assurances that Speaker Johnson won’t sell us out to the swamp," she wrote while also posting a link to an article that highlighted Trump's past endorsements of former House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) and the late Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) to highlight the risk of pushing forward with Johnson.

No other repub has more than 50-70 votes...at the end of the day it will be johnson no matter what.
Repub's need to learn to pick their battles.
If Trump is backing him, he must have a plan. For one thing, the GOP need to focus on getting stuff done and not fighting over another Speaker again.
Johnson just needs some direction...which he'll get from Trump. I've had issues with him in the past (rolling over for dem's) but with guidance and a spine coming from Trump...I think johnson will do just fine.
And lets be honest...nobody cares who is speaker! We voted for Trump because THAT is the agenda we want enacted!
