Imagine you are a Repub, white guy involved in a get out the vote campaign or a voter registration drive. The police show up at your door looking for evidence you are trying to facilitate voter fraud. They search your home, take your phone and laptop without finding any evidence of what they are looking for. All authorized by an AG who is a Dem.

that's why they are investigating and collecting evidence via a search warrant.

Paxton took what evidence he did have, and went to a judicial officer, presented it, and that neutral and detached judicial officer, found PC to issue the search warrant.

you'll have to check NY law on that....with that said, he hasn't been sentenced yet, so he isn't a felon yet.
