Americans needing 2 or more jobs spike under Trump to record levels

Two or more job workers were last highest under Trump45.
Under Biden we set a record for number of people needing 2 FULL TIME JOBS.

As CBS News reports:

“Although fewer people today are working multiple jobs, more Americans than ever hold two full-time jobs, amounting to more than 70 hours of work a week. In June, 426,000 people were working two full-time positions, compared to 308,000 in February 2020, according to federal labor data.”

You really don't get it...do you? Trump is looking for an even playing field. He wants countries that impose large tariffs on US goods to lower those tariffs. We weren't imposing tariffs on German cars being sold here but they impose tariffs on US cars sold there.
No problem. Has nothing to do with making more products here and stopping fentanyl? Then why did he say that it was?

The president and his advisers say their goal is to make the tariffs so painful that they force companies to make their products in the United States. They argue that this will create more American jobs and push up wages.

4 months and has tinkered excessively with the economy. Welcome to responsibility my friend. These multiple job holders are struggling in Trump's America. This is the same America he said he would start lowering prices from on Day 1.
Trump also said he would end the War in Ukraine in one day. When will that day happen?

In Trump's America jobs are so plentiful that more people than ever are working two or more jobs at a time. This is higher than any other time since we started tracking in 1994. Higher than the great recession.

I am so tired of all the winning! I remember how much the right was concerned about the lower numbers under Biden of multiple job holders so I cant imagine the pain they are feeling now about the economy as it has become even worse for working Americans.

For more and more US adults in the current economy, it seems like one job is just no longer enough.

According to Friday’s job report, the number of multiple jobholders in the US surged to a record 8.9 million in February, the highest since data tracking began in 1994. That’s 5.4% of all employed workers — a level last seen in April 2009.
/—-—/ Until the Senate passes the new budget and President Trump signs it into law, we're still operating under Bidenomics—you tool. Learn how our government works.

It’s neither Trump nor Biden’s fault if some Americans can’t manage their finances.

No one gets to blame the president because they can’t live within their means

The goal is to get other countries to stop imposing steep tariffs on American goods. In case you haven't been paying attention there is a literal stampede of countries letting Washington know that they are willing to do just that.

It's China that we have an issue with over Fentanyl. They've murdered more Americans with drugs they've produced than we lost in the Vietnam War. They deserve everything they're getting and more!

Real wages were up under Biden. That’s just a fact. You wouldn’t know a fact if it farted in your face.

Absolute lie. Real wages were DOWN under Biden, UP under Trump. With inflation at 21% and wages growing at barely 3, people had far less spending cash under Biden. 4 years of Trump my pay went up almost 25%. Under 4 years of Biden, it went up 2%.

Actually less than 3 months.

If they’re all part time…
If that's what is driving this, then it sounds more like the jobs are shorter than the people are working longer hours.

I wonder if the increases in the minimum wage, or in particular California's ridiculous $20/hr for fast food workers means employers are cutting hours, meaning more people need more than one job to make a full 8 hour workday.

The chart indicates the vast majority of the growth came during the Biden years. Rather understandable considering the lifting of COVID related restrictions landlords and mortgage companies were under and the increase in rents.

What I'd keep an eye on is which direction employment opportunities will head under Trump's tariff policies,

Hey Gator, you're stupid, and to support this fact, March was the first month in FIVE FUCKING YEARS prices actually dropped.

"March's report comes after inflation rose 2.8% on an annual basis in February. On a monthly basis, prices actually fell 0.1% in March, the first monthly drop in nearly five years."

Well California has a notoriously high cost of living, so $20 an hour there isn’t likely enough to live off anyway

In my state, the minimum wage was just raised to $12-something an hour.

I’ve never heard of any job around here, no matter how menial, to pay that. Even an experience-less gas station attendant makes more.

I don’t think the minimum wage is responsible for any economic downturn, anywhere.

People are already making more than minimum wage by a couple bucks.

The official minimum wage is well below the actual minimum wage everywhere.

Just copy and paste threads, just change from Biden to Trump wherever you see it, that'll help your petty arguements a lot quicker -

I'm not suggesting a higher minimum wage is causing a downturn.

I'm suggesting it causes employers to cut hours, meaning what used to be a full time job is now part time, and this causes an increase in the number of people needing to work 2 or more jobs.

/—/ My first two jobs were $1.25 an hour (1968) adjusted for inflation it would e about $14 an hour in 2025 dollars.
Being single and working part time as a bartender for tips along with my full time job, I had a comfortable studio, an old car, and money in the bank.
I improved my skills and got better paying jobs.
