No comparison. A regional invasion and occupation requires an exit strategy. A world war is close to, if not, absolute war. There is no exit strategy in an absolute war.

They didn't, and most likely would have lost if they had spent time on it. But then they didn't need it, it was self defense really, that's why I wouldn't expect one. Vietnam (though that whole deal was a mess) couldn't have had one either, we were suppose to be "helping" fight someone elses war and they should have planned it better not us.

That aside, my point was the goal of wars is usually clear, and once achieved should be ended, I wasn't talking exit strategies I was pointing out that the latest war keeps having it's goal moved and changed, you can't end a war if you don't know why you are there in the first place.
