I get the impression Yukon has self-esteem issues.

If you are getting redirects it's a browser hijacker, not a worm or a virus. Download HijackThis! and run it, to get rid of the hijacker.Whoa!!
After spending most of Christmas morning trying to get rid of the giant worm that infected my entire system, I expected to see some sort of notice here that either the problem had been fixed, or that it was being worked on.
The only thing I notice is that everything I click on here redirects me through another route, verrrrrrrry sloooooooowly. Which is fine, but was anything posted by Gunny somewhere else telling us what the hell happened and, specifically, how they are fixing it?
I know there are hackers who can find ways to sneak through just about any firewall, so I don't expect miracles. Just a comforting word or two.
When trying to rid my own system of the problem, I first got completely out of IE and used Netscape to download Panda which did a scan and caught all of the trojans. But NORTON did not. The full screen of Norton attempts was useless against this worm because as soon as one was deleted another one took its place. The access had to be blocked, which meant blocking all OUTGOING e-mail (which is how it got in, and why there were so many strange addresses I initially reported). Apparently it has something to do with an MS use of semi-colons to separate e-mail addresses. The hacker found a way in at that point. Hopefully MS has fixed THAT problem, because using a semi-colon is almost universal.
Anyway, after I disinfected, I downloaded Firefox (FINALLY!), and everything everyone told me is true. The transition is great. I love it and won't use IE again. That said, I do hope USMB gets this redirect thing fixed and we can quickly return to fighting like cats and dogs.
This is likely because you're using firefox. That means the malware is likely still in your IE and windows registry.I'm not getting the redirect now. Thanks.
I am no expert, but Norton is garbage. I use AVG.Forgot to ask -- MM you and KK are the experts, so which AV program do you recommend? I've still got Norton (free) for about another month, and thought I would switch to McAfee thereafter, but even they didn't catch this latest problem in some cases. I went to PC Digest and they recommended Panda, which I'd never heard of. But Panda had a free scan, and they were successful (at least of ridding my own system of the bug).
