It appears that what Noem said wasn't entirely true. Reportedly, people will still be able to use other forms of ID to fly. At least for a while....according to the screenshot in the tweet below, there will be two years of "phased enforcement."

Hmmm. Interesting. Since there have already been deadline delays for years because of pushback from the public, I wonder if that's why they're doing this "phased enforcement"?

For real? Real ID was originally scheduled to go into effect in 2008. Then postponed to 2013, 2016, 2020, 2023 and now finally May 7th.

I got mine in 2022. Besides air travel and entering government buildings they should make it necessary to register to vote.

Hey MisterBeale ....get this. I wanted to verify the tweet below, and what I got was that James Sensenbrenner - while not the sole author of the Patriot Act, was a primary sponsor and key driver behind it in the House, and he authored and introduced the REAL ID Act himself.

So basically we have the same guy to thank for both the Patriot Act and the REAL ID Act.

Uh, actually, the framework for that law came out of Biden's office after the OKC bombing incident. Or that is the narrative.

Very interesting... thanks for that info. And since some of us know that there's more to OKC than what the idiot box told us... and we also know what 9/11 was.... It's amazing that everything that has been happening in the last 20-25 years, all the unconstitutional, unAmerican, Orwellian legislation stems from outright lies and deception.

Yet many people are eagerly complying with it. Because "safety" and "honest elections" !

That's how it was in many states. But according to the announcement made the other day, there is a May 7 deadline that requires the REAL ID for flying domestically or entering Federal buildings.

But now it's turning out that other forms of ID will still be allowed for flying... at least for now, because they're doing a "phased enforcement."

I think the real ID picture puts your eyes and facial identification in their database...

My husband had gotten a renewed drivers licence just a few months before I did last year, with a new picture and he had to bring in his birth certificate.....but it was not real ID. When I went in months later to renew mine, I was forced to get the real ID version, and your birth certificate alone was not enough....they needed 3 other identifications like recent utility bills sent to your address or bank/credit card accounts with your name and address....

While there to get my new real ID drivers licence, Matt applied for the real ID version....and we happened to bring all of his ids with us...

And even though 6 months earlier he got a new picture for his drivers licence, they made him take a NEW high def picture....we thought it was strange to make him redo his picture....so we are presuming there is some sort of biometrics involved with the real ID picture???

Thanks for sharing that. I'm going to have to look into that. I have no doubt that that's where this is heading, a digital ID based on biometrics. But as for what they're doing now, I need to look into it.

Wait a second... is there a gold star on the top right corner of his new DL? Or does it say "Enhanced" anywhere?

ETA: Whoops, never mind, you did say he got the REAL ID version. Sorry, I just went back and re-read your post.

For me, in California...the last time I got my DL, I just got a regular DL. No gold star...or in our case, no gold bear. I don't even remember being asked if I wanted one that is REAL ID compliant. (I would have said no, of course.)

Btw....since you're a believer, I'm sure you know what the final goal is with all this stuff. Which of course will sound completely crazy to those who don't have that worldview.

So my questions remains. Why do we (American citizens) have to have enhanced photo IDs while people who are in the country without permission and our government doesn't REALLY know who they are only who they SAY they are, can board a commercial aircraft without having to show photo ID?

I would say that the real reason that many people comply is because they don't genuinely believe that any of their rights that they care about will be impacted.

It's very easy to get on board with rights violations when the target is someone who doesn't have the same attributes as yourself. It's often only when it's too late that many realize the wider implications of what they endorsed.

Maybe because this isn't actually about "safety" or the immigration issue at all.

If they truly cared about illegal immigrants being in the country, they wouldn't be doing so many of the things they're doing.

And it's not only the Dems.

Just the other day, Trump did a flip on his "mass deportations" and anti-illegal immigration rhetoric, by saying that farm workers and hotel workers can stay and have a path toward becoming legal, if they're really needed. And he actually said "they need these people" (I might be paraphrasing, but it was something to that effect. I'll find the clip and add it when I do.)

IMO they don't care one whit about illegal immigration. Because like I said earlier on the thread, the border problem has been the Trojan Horse used to bring in all the authoritarian agendas... including more mass surveillance, a biometric tracking system, an eventual mandatory digital ID based on biometrics, etc.

It sounds like you haven't read this whole thread. Because I've already addressed most of those points throughout the thread. And you're ignoring my points I posted directly to you in previous posts. You're just repeating the same thing.

Like I said before, I don't think you see the trajectory we're on...not just in the US but the world. You don't seem to see the increasingly Orwellian agendas that are in the works, including digital ID based on biometrics, digital finance system, social credit score system, the move toward technocracy, etc. As I said before, everything happens slowly and incrementally. That's why I said I see this as stepping stone, it doesn't stop there. In post #115 I posted a list of reasons why I see it that way.

But you are so focused on the pretext they've given you, that it seems to be the only thing that matters to you...making sure we have an "honest vote." While I absolutely agree with you on principle, personally I don't really trust elections to begin with, I lean towards the view that presidents are selected, not elected. But yes I know that sounds like crazy conspiracy theory. But even if that's not the case...I believe there has to be another way to solve the problem of election integrity, that doesn't involve having to comply with a national ID that infringes on freedom of movement within our own country. Anyway....we'll have to agree to disagree. I see the direction things are going in, and I don't want to go along with it. You do, because you trust the reasons given, you seem to trust the federal government, and you don't seem to see (or believe) the direction that I see the world going in. Either that or you don't have a problem with it.

And all they really wanted was a population of people who were not illiterate.

You know this is how our laws work. They are written "allegedly" to cover everyone, however they are then applied selectively.

I just noticed that a couple threads were already posted on this topic in the last few months. But since Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem just made an announcement yesterday, I figured I'd post a new thread.

I agree with what Thomas Massie, Catherine Austin Fitts and others have said about this. This is about control and it's just another way for our federal government to track legal citizens. Under the guise of immigration reform. But if people don't object, it's not going to stop there. Make no mistake about that.

Actually this just seems to be a way of fucking with people.

The US is barely democratic. The two party system should be a HUGE giveaway that there's not much in the way of democracy.

They just do this to try and tell you, subconsciously, that the US does have democracy and it's under threat.

When the reality is Proportional Representation is 21st century democracy, not FPTP.
