It appears even more diabolical than that. The term seems to be a convenient virtue signal call to prance out just before elections when the leader they wish to lose is strong on borders and defending U.S sovereignty.

These Sanctuary Cities are a ruse. The leaders who promote this are left with even less credibility when they gas light the population while citizens are dealing with real, pressing issues such as cost of gas, food, government debt and a war that might ensure it continues for awhile.

Under such conditions, luxuries such as dealing with climate change and finding homes and handouts for illegal border crossing under-the-table workers just doesn't seem as important.

An empty stomach and wallet will straighten out ones priorities real quick.
