Bathroom war in congress

A trans war has broken out on Capitol Hill after a Republican lawmaker proposed a measure that would block the first transgender member of Congress from using biological women's restrooms in the U.S. Capitol.

Rep. Nancy Mace is pushing for the new rule ahead of the arrival of Congresswoman-elect Sarah McBride, who will take office in January as the first openly-trans lawmaker in the United States.

McBride blasted Republicans after the proposal, claiming they were using it as a 'distraction' tactic.

This is a blatant attempt from far right-wing extremists to distract from the fact that they have no real solutions to what Americans are facing,' McBride said in a statement.

'The cruelty is the point,' Democrat Rep. Becca Balint, a co-chair of the Equality Caucus, told Axios.

'This is not just bigotry, this is just plain bullying,' Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said.

Mr. McBride needs to respect the privacy rights of the real women in the capital building.
Maybe they can give him his own bathroom.
Trans = Make Believe

Who would actually vote in such a defect? Far left extremists

Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene repeatedly misgendered Delaware state Senator Sarah McBride, a trans woman, in a video clip that has circulated online.

On Monday, Greene was asked by a reporter for comment on fellow Republican Congresswoman Nancy Mace's resolution which seeks to ban transgender women from using women's bathrooms at the U.S. Capitol. The proposal comes ahead of McBride's arrival in Washington, D.C., where she will make history as the first openly transgender member of Congress.

A video of the interview with Pablo Manríquez shared on X, formerly Twitter, sees the Georgia Republican refer to McBride as "a man," and "he" multiple times.

Greene is using the correct pronouns

House Speaker Mike Johnson was asked if incoming freshman Congresswoman Sarah McBride is a man or a woman as some Republican caucus members move to ban transgender women from using the women's restroom on Capitol Hill.

McBride was elected to Congress earlier this month. She will be the first openly transgender member of Congress come January.

But on Monday, GOP Congresswoman Nancy Mace of South Carolina introduced a resolution to ban transgender women from using the women's restrooms at the U.S. Capitol.

She claimed she is 'standing up for women' but critics slammed it as a direct attack on McBride as she heads to Washington and accused Mace of trying to get attention.

During the press conference with House Republican leadership on Tuesday morning, a reporter asked Johnson if McBride is a man or a woman.

'Um look, I'm not going to get into this,' Johnson responded. 'We welcome all new members with open arms who are duly elected representatives of the people.'

He said he believes it is a 'command that we treat all persons with dignity and respect' and claimed they will.

comment:
McBride is violating the right to privacy of real women

Do the women's room only have urinals or closable privacy stalls?

That's the solution. Keep the public restrooms restricted to biological males or females and designate one bathroom, even a one stall one, as unisex. Everybody should then be happy.

Three bathrooms.
Mens
Womens
Whatevers

Problem solved.
Also everyone could just use the bathroom that corresponds to their biological sex. Bathrooms are divided by sex not gender for a reason. You can't on one hand say that gender is a social construct and different from sex and at the same time say that you have to use the bathroom of the opposite sex because you identify as a different gender.

There's got to be a family bathroom in the Capitol that s/he can use.
