I'm all for conservation and protecting our wildlife............but...........ANTS?????

They're like flies, all the do is BREED by the thousands. Taking 5000 ants is like taking 1 single piece of candy out of that giant candy bin.

I understand the POSSIBLE damage a new breed of insect could cause in a different region of the world..........but still...............ANTS?????

Much less THOUSANDS of dollars for a few ants???? Fuck, I'm in the wrong business.

Then again............what MORON takes ants on a vacation???
20 years ago, I'd say these are definitely illegal animal traders.
But TODAY? There's a 200% chance they really are BRAIN DEAD RETARDS.

I had a little ant farm when I was a kid. Truly amazing insects. I loved to catch bumble bees too and watch them, feed them and then release them. To this day I have an affinity for bees. I love watching them each summer in the backyard as they move from flower to flower.

My grandpa raised bees. Thier hive was under a covered/open garage, and the hive itself was in an old wooden 55 gallon barrell.

He told me how to handle bees, and to this day I've never been stung by one.

LOL, when I read the title of your OP, I thought, Dayum, their grandparents were really getting busy. Then it dawned on me the OP lacked a "u" in the word ants.

I might understand if these are a known invasive species, but this does not seem to be the case.
