Basically 4 GOP Senators were threatening to tank this bill because they claimed people would quit their jobs because in some states, the UE payments would be $600 more than their typical salary...in other words, they were trying to claim that people would quit their jobs over 600 dollars....

Which prompted Bernie to call their bluff and say he would hold the bill if there isn't stronger conditions put on their beloved 4.5 trillion dollar corporate slush fund...so the Republicans caved and admitted that no, people will not be voluntarily leaving their jobs over $600 because people who leave their jobs on their own are not even eligible for payment...the bill passed 96-0 in the Senate..

By the way, Bernie also expanded the bill to ensure100% benefit payments for everyone making up to 75K as well as coverage for people who work in the service industry and gig economy -- who were previously left out....

But what IS NOT being talked about enough is how little or how toothless the restrictions are on the 4.5 trillion dollar corporate bailout...like how the bill permits bailed out companies to lay off up to 10% of their workforce over the next six months, with no restrictions on how much they can layoff thereafter -- why are we bailing these companies out if they are going to turn around and layoff people anyway?? and also this bill does little to prevent these companies from doing stock buybacks with the bailout money...WTF?

As a former deputy oversight chairman said “If you give vast amounts of public money with no real accountability -- you won’t like what happens next.”

thats a misrepresentation of the problem

its almost certain that many laid off employees getting the extra money will not return to work till the extra money runs out
