Just while we’re on the topic of data gathering; what isn’t reported very often and is far less sexy because it doesn’t allow right wing loons to mis-characterize it and clutch their pearls... is the fact that a lot of the in car navigation systems are owned by the Chinese or have ties to Chinese companies. So if you’re putting in a search for an address on your car’s nav system, it may be recorded for later use by the Chinese. For someone like me (and likely you) that isn’t a problem. If you’re the head of security at a nuke site or whatever rand you punch in directions to a brothel in Nevada etc or something as sensitive... you could find yourself a target of Chinese Intelligence who may have access to this information.
