But what could the party do when America was still not ready for a good choice that was a much more leftist candidate that would honestly work for the people.

Biden can't win, regardless of who he's running against. On the off chance Trump gets the nomination, Trump will become President.

For all of his faults (the name-calling, the 3:00am tweets, etc), the fact remains that, under Trump:

• Gas prices were less than half what they are now
• Food prices were lower
• Our border was far more secure
• There was no baby formula shortage
• There were fewer Covid deaths over a longer period of time than there have been with Biden

Now, whether Biden deserves the blame for any of those or not is really pretty immaterial. The average voter isn't going to care enough to analyze what drives a problem. The average voter is going to see the problem and then look at who's running the show. It really is that simple.

Harry Truman (a proud democrat) used to have a plaque on his desk that said "The Buck Stops Here". That's what people see.

Make no mistake: Biden is a one term President and, currently, there's not a democrat alive who would beat Trump.
