The biggest problem is politics.

The electoral system is easy to manipulate for the rich, so it becomes about money and nothing else. The politicians are mostly going after the money. Trump's brought out a new level of craziness that others are trying to emulate.

The solution. Change the electoral system to Proportional Representation and then a lot of the other problems might get solved.
