Memorial Day weekend closes with 4 shot on West Side, hit by brunt of holiday violence

69 people shot. 6 dead. Over 3 days.

If ONE SHOOTER did all this.....it would be global news and would be reported on the level of the Paris or San Bernadino shootings.

BUT....it was done by 69 different shooters. Which somehow makes it less news worthy.

Why is 1 gunman so much more reportable than 69 gunmen????

Because Violence is already expected in Criminal Laden territory, obvioisly.

Not all but the vast majority of the violence is coming in the form of criminal on criminal. Not much spectacular going on there, to make it very newsworthy except for the news of the phenomena itself which IS rehashed over and over and over.

Ah. So....the media is focusing on the rare incident of mass violence by a lone gunman in a normally safe area. But ignoring the chronic problem of areas with mass violence on a daily basis.

The zoo gorilla was CNNs lead story online over the weekend. But an American city has 69 people shot....and barely a peep outside of Chicago media.

And also because when there's a single mass shooter he's targeting random people, since he's out for carnage, the bloody feedback that gun culture demands. When you have a single one-on-one shooter, the victim is targeted personally for a specific reason connected to that specific person.

Oh, got it. So, how do you describe the innocent victims often killed or wounded in thousands of such one-on-one ghetto shootings annually across America?
