California mayor wants to give homeless people 'all the fentanyl they want': 'Need to purge these people'

I don't know if you support it or not, but your government killed nearly 5% of all the people who died in your country in 2023.

Yes, and I have been against many of these instances where the circumstances do not meet a real standard.

Don't associate me with a policy I have nothing to do with. It is a complicated issue

I'm not associating you with it, I mentioned it because Canada has a global reputation as a place where the government endorses euthanizing people.

I fully endorse this idea. These people are a blight on society and contribute absolutely nothing except chaos and misery. Let the trash take itself out.

A Southern California mayor said he wants to eliminate his city's homeless population by "giving them all the fentanyl they want," a controversial comment he doubled down on by saying he supports a federal "purge" of homeless people.

Lancaster Mayor R. Rex Parris, a Republican, made the comments during a city council meeting on Feb. 25 when a resident questioned him about the city’s plan to address the homeless crisis by "enclosing" the homeless population in a single encampment in an abandoned golf course near a residential neighborhood.

"What I want to do is give them free fentanyl. That’s what I want to do," Parris responded.

"I want to give them all the fentanyl they want," he reiterated.

As these articles tend to do, most especially if it is a Republican they want to denigrate, they quote phrases out of context to make them appear very different than intended. They rarely ever show the full video in its full context.

At closer scrutiny., the Mayor was clearly talking about the criminal element that refused any form of help but was wrecking havoc on the security and well being of the citizens in his city. Also that he made it clear that he was speaking figuratively and did not intend to be taken literally.

These little exculpatory facts are what makes a so-called 'legacy' media/MSM so dishonest in this country. And why we must be ever diligent to call out media manipulation of this type when we see it.

What about alcohol? Gambling? Porn? Nicotine? Heavily addictive pharmaceuticals? Doctors promoting sex changes in the young?

There are vices and evil everywhere, why go after the most helpless?

You can have an opinion but I don't believe that G-d shares it.
Prohibition is over

I grow tired of unappreciated assholes. The drugs are more important than life. They draw the drug traffic into the country. Without buyers there’s no drugs. It’s a double edge sword. Take away the money, take away the drugs. Freebies take away money, crime and drugs
Take away the distributors, then there are no drugs. But since organized crime donates to campaigns....Maybe campaign finance reform is necessary.

For a serious response, the issue is the people who want to deal with this situation have decided to remove the two required motivators to get people to want to fix themselves.

Force and Shame.

Some people simply can subsist indefinitely given the support to them by the so called advocates. Just enough not to die, but not enough to either fix them or feed their habit. Thus the petty thefts turning into harder crimes, as well as the squalor often found.

Until people realize that these people need to be forced to clean up, then the "Hotel California" Solution may be needed.
When they are forced to clean up they immediately revert when the force is removed. Then they will adapt to the degree of force. Then the force to get compliance has to be increased. What do you end up with from a class of people forced under the lash?

Take away the distributors, then there are no drugs. But since organized crime donates to campaigns....Maybe campaign finance reform is necessary.

Your party lets the distributors into our country (and the drugs, the dealers, and many of the customers, too).

You WANT this, stop acting like you don't.

It has and it has worked.
California put aside $7.2 billion to address homelessness in the 2021-22 state budget. Last year, there were an estimated 172,000 homeless statewide, which equates to spending nearly $42,000 per homeless person.

Spending of this magnitude – which only accounts for state money – is sufficient if it were applied effectively. The worsening crisis indicates that something is off with how the state spends its resources.

This perspective is important in light of a comprehensive homeless survey by UC San Francisco. Many of its findings are enlightening, but too many of its suggestions call for more spending.

It strains credulity to believe that spending $42,000 per person is insufficient, but if bumped up to $45,000, all will be OK. California does not have the worst-in-the-nation homeless crisis because it spends too little.

This politician just telegraphed how ignorant he is. He is as bad as all the dope addicts on this forum who don't understand it either - especially when they claim shit like, marijuana is not addictive.

"The world is a vampire
Sent to drain
Secret destroyers
Hold you up to the flames
And what do I get
For my pain?
Betrayed desires
And a piece of the game

Even though I know
I suppose I'll show
All my cool and cold
Like ol' Job

Despite all my rage, I am still just a rat in a cage
Despite all my rage, I am still just a rat in a cage
Someone will say, "What is lost can never be saved"
Despite all my rage, I am still just a rat in a cage . . "

The guy should be removed. Perhaps creating a program that would reduce homelessness by refurbishing vacant buildings, providing skill training for jobs and addressing drug addiction would be a better solution. This guy sounds like a Republican.

This immoral idea will never be put to use

Huh. Strange magaturds aren't jumping for joy about this. 🤷‍♀️

DSM-5 says that it's not a mental illness when it becomes an infliction of the majority. The majority of members commenting has shown that his comments are acceptable as normal.

See DSM-5 for the long version.

See the 'third Reich' for that which became normal behaviour.

Lancaster / Palmdale like ALL dangerous/disgusting shitholes in Mexifornia has a demographics problem…Send Tom Homan and the boys in for an aggressive eradication of human cockroaches…if that doesn’t work do the nation a favor and launch a small nuke.

Take away the addict no distributor

You mean the same things California has been doing for decades. It would have worked if it weren’t for those meddling kids!

Expert use of sarcasm, Taz. Because not even you could stoop that low.

Killing them isn't going to help.

So keep doing what the democrats have done for decades. It’s impossible to give these people enough “free” shit to make them not be what they are.

Do you ever not have your grubby paw out looking for free stuff?

Oh boy, another Nazi reply.
