Capitol Police Arrest Top Dem Staffer

Capitol Police Arrest Top Dem Staffer

2 Dec 2024 ~~ By Paula Bolyard

Well, this is a bit odd. The U.S. Capitol Police arrested a congressional staffer on Monday morning after he was caught trying to smuggle ammo into the Cannon House Office Building.
The staffer works for Rep. Joe Morelle (D-N.Y.), who currently serves on the House Appropriations Committee and is the Ranking Member of the Committee on House Administration.
The USCP said in a statement:
At approximately 8:45 a.m., a House staffer entered the Cannon House Office Building and put his bag through screening. USCP officers noticed what appeared to be ammunition on the x-ray screen. After a hand search of the bag, officers found four ammunition magazines and eleven rounds of ammunition. The staffer told the officers that he forgot the ammunition was in the bag. 38-year-old Michael Hopkins was arrested, and he is facing charges for unlawful possession of ammunition, including one charge for possession of a high-capacity magazine.”
Perhaps he "forgot" about the ammo in the same way I've forgotten which lake my AR-15s disappeared into after that tragic boating accident last year. Or maybe it was just an innocent mistake, and he didn't remember the four mags bumping around in the bottom of his gym bag.
~Snip~
The suspect, Michael Hopkins, is listed as Morelle's communications director. He's also worked for Charlie Cris (ew) and the Hillary for America campaign. Lately, he's been tweeting/retweeting a lot about trans bathrooms in Congress and congressional offices. Make of that what you will.
It'll be interesting to see if the leftist media covers this story. If it were, say, someone who worked for Matt Gaetz, this story would be headline news with wall-to-wall coverage. Don't hold your breath.

Commentary:
Seems a bit scary given the fact that Hopkins is both anti-gun and very anti-Trump.
What did he have planned?
The law about permits for ammo is stupid, but it is what it is and that’s what the voters in DC apparently want.
However, carrying a mag full of ammo into the Cannon House Office building makes me wonder where is said firearm. Does Hopkins have a permit for it. When and where was that firearm purchased?
Only for someone with morals. Biden could issue a pardon for the guy. I mean, it is called the Cannon House Office Building, isn't it? Natural mistake.
Biden will pardon him.

Probably not what the people of Washington voted for, but the House committee, voted for.
If he did not have a weapon with him, it really doesn't concern you, whether he is a permitted carrier, if not carrying. I wouldn't be surprised if it were in his trunk and magazines in his bag from going to the range, over the weekend.

Good grief

Of course shooters use the same bag for work and shooting.... not that's ridiculous

I don't use a utility work bag, more of a dedicated range bag with ammo and tools for multiple weapons, whether shooting multiple weapons on a given range day or not. But many just use what they have, like a small pack or gym bag for utility use, same as often used for book bags carrying legal pad binders, books, and laptops. Nobody said it was a brief case. Weapon goes back in holster before leaving the range, then into the house or wherever I'm going, in my case. Of course, I am not frequenting congressional office buildings. Newbies use what they have, and don't advertise they have a weapon, especially not in a major eastern city.

Buuuuuut he's anti gun. You saying he's all for anointed people having guns, but not the "little people"?

Sounds like they were getting ready for a Jan 6th insurrection. All of those who incited this by declaring Trump a threat to democracy should be arrested and charged.

At best we see another example of irresponsible dembot firearm owners. It's amazing from Baldwin, to this clown, to Hunter etc etc....and yet they want to dictate to the rest of us about "responisble gun laws" - when they can't even deal with the ones we have.

at worst.....this was yet another radicalized violent Dembot brownshirt, like Thomas Crooks James Hodgkinson or Ryan Routh
