"Centrist Dem group rails against leftist identity politics and purity tests

When several dozen Democratic political operatives and elected officials gathered at a tony resort off the Potomac River last month, frustration boiled over at the left wing of their party.

Democrats had become too obsessed with “ideological purity tests” and should push back “against far-left staffers and groups that exert a disproportionate influence on policy and messaging,” according to a document of takeaways from the gathering produced by the center-left group Third Way and obtained by POLITICO.

The group of moderate Democratic consultants, campaign staffers, elected officials and party leaders who gathered in Loudoun County, Virginia for a day-and-a-half retreat, where they plotted their party’s comeback, searched for why the party lost in November — and what to do about it. Much of what they focused their ire on centered on the kind of identity politics that they believed lost them races up and down the ballot."

The Democrat grifter leadership has lost control of the party. They played with fire, when they decided to ally with the radical Left.
Now, they are getting burned.

Be careful, centrist Democrats are exceptionally good at lying to voters to get elected then stabbing voters in the back once they get to Washington.

What's great about the left is they are open about all the whacko shit they plan to pull if they get elected. That's why centrist Dems are upset, they can't lie to get elected if the left constantly tell voters what they truly plan to do. Centrist Democrats are far more devious. Nancy Pelosi being the queen bee of that cabal.

There is no such thing as a "moderate dem", they all want your money and freedom.
Nonsense.

There are vast numbers of Moderate Democrats.

Unfortunately, despite their numbers, their hyper-Left counterparts are the most aggressive, vocal and controlling.

The tactics of the hyper-Left dictate that those who speak-up against their extremes are marginalized and ridiculed.

It's an effective tactic and I'll be curious to see if Moderate Democrats find the courage to retake their own Party.

I have very, very serious doubts that they have the ball$ and the brains to make that happen anytime soon.

Pendulums only swing so far before they swing back. Dems will, hopefully, swing back to the middle. Once Trump is gone and the GOP, as I predict, loses big in the 2026 and 2028, they too will swing back to the middle, kicking and screaming of course.

There are vast numbers of Moderate Republicans.

Unfortunately, despite their numbers, their hyper-Right counterparts are the most aggressive, vocal and controlling.

Incorrect.

The hyper-Right does not control the Republican Party.

Rather, only one person does - Donald Trump.

You still hear a lot of democrats claiming they lost because they weren't far left enough. They still want men in girl's sports, in their dressing rooms, and bathrooms, along with other far leftist policies.

One man represents the MAGA GOP but there are plenty of his foot soldiers voting in GOP primaries. The GOP won't recover until the MAGA folk get voted out. I fear that won't be for a long time.

Negative, I used to think that getting shed of the old leftist heads of the dem party would make "blue dogs" great again but seeing the even farther left batshit crazy nutjobs being elected to congress leads me to believe that it's a forlorn hope.

You people are stuck with them.

For once the Republican Party is doing what the base wants it to do.

RINOs can go switch over to the dems and be swamped by the hard left like the "moderate" dems are being.

It all depends on who the echo chamber Democrat Media Bubble - decides to back.
That Cult lost the ability to win elections for The Democrats, but they still control the inner working of the party.
That is how the lunatic fringe gained control.

I see your point but I'm hoping the base will re-learn why they supported 'RINO's in the past.
