Lousy coin toss rule. If Bucs would have won the coin toss, they would have won the game.

Even still, they put up a good fight to tie the game, and put it into overtime, against the Super Bowl champs, and only NFL undefeated team this year. And that was without their top 2 receivers (Mike Evans & Chris Godwin).

24 to 24 in Regulation time.
30 to 24 Chiefs win in Overtime.

maybe. That's certainly not a definite. The Chiefs have one of the best defenses in the league.

They might have won if they'd gone for two points as well.

Yup. Baker's really doing well. Better that 4 - 5 says.

Bucs had their opportunity. Had they caught that interception in the final two minutes, or if they had gone for 2 points instead of a FG, or not let the Chiefs march down in OT and drive that final yard rush into the end zone, they would have won!

They do. And the Bucs have one of the best offenses in the league.
(259 points scored - 3rd best out of 32 teams)

Yes, the overtime was the major factor. The coin toss set up a one drive contest between the NFL's 16th best offense, against the Bucs 28th best defense. A mediocre offense (KC), against a lousy defense (the Bucs).

If the Bucs had won the coin toss, it would have been the Buc's 3rd best offense in the NFL, against KC's 3rd best defense in the NFL

Not with their 2 starting wrs injured they don’t. That said so what.
Even with their 2 best WRs injured, and not playing, the Bucs played the Super bowl champs (undefeated this year) to a TIE (24 to 24) in regulation time.

At the 2 minute warning, the Chiefs had the lead, and thought they had the game won. The Bucs used their timeouts and scored a touchdown, with just a few seconds remaining.

KC was lucky they won the coin toss, and thus only had to face the Buc's lousy defense, instead of the Buc's good offense.

Buc's need to shore up their defense (28th in th league)

The Bucs should have gone for the two point conversion instead of the point after at the end of regulation

I'm not sure I like the OT rules--- it essentially enters a huge element of LUCK into the game. If you are LUCKY enough to win the coin flip, and if you march down to score a TD first, the other team never even gets a chance to play. GAME OVER.

Bottom line is that the Bucs should have tried for 2 points instead of kicking that FG, but apparently didn't feel confident in their doing so. They gambled on LUCK in OT.

That still would have left Mahomes with 30 seconds, and all three timeouts, to go 25 yds so they could win with a field goal.

I think part of their math was that Mahomes was injured and the field was wet.

But I agree. Bucs had the defense on its heels. They should have gone for two and done their best to stop Mahomes.

The Chiefs really haven't played all that great this year as in past seasons, they've been pretty lucky so far that things just worked out for them.
The case can be made that Detroit is a better team.
Maybe luck counts for something in the NFL.

TB had 9 possessions and punted on 5 of them. There was greater chance of them punting than any other outcome.

Really dumb decision to not go for two, everyone in the world would have agreed with the call whether you got it or not. I could see possibly taking it to OT anywhere else, but playing for OT in the rain at Arrowhead?

I agree. Too much put on luck. If there has to be a coin toss, at least why not just have it be a 5th quarter of 15 minutes + time outs, instead first team with touchdown wins.

Part of the idea, sadly, is to speed up the game and get it over with faster, because the games already drag on too much slowed down by all of the nitpicking penalties and reviews.

You're aware that if you don't win the coin toss you're allowed to put your defense out there to stop them from scoring a TD, right? Had your team won that game in OT you wouldnt be complaining about the ruleset.

In the last 2 min., I didn't understand the conservative play calling by KC of 3 runs that went nowhere! They only needed 1 first down for Gawd-sakes! Instead they kicked the ball back to TB who tied it up in a long drive! KC was lucky to have survived their own ineptitude in the waning moments of the game! :meow: :stir::dunno::abgg2q.jpg:
