A three-year investigation into an exploitative Toronto-based film company has netted nearly 350 arrests and rescued more than 380 children from sexual abuse, police said Thursday.

Law enforcement from all over the world, primarily in Eastern Europe and the United States, worked with Toronto police since 2010 to arrest those who produced child pornography and those who purchased it.

Among the 348 people arrested in the international child sex abuse investigation were 40 teachers, six law enforcement personnel, nine pastors or priests and some doctors and nurses, Beaven-Desjardins said.

One could wonder about all those people in jobs with easy access to children, but one must realize that these criminals go to places where children are just as bank robbers are drawn to banks.

Another thing I always wonder is if modern technology such as file sharing makes it easier to catch these assholes, and they have always been around, just not able to share thier filth, or if the exposure of things like this to these people allows them to act on urges that decades ago they were able to keep down, due to lack of access to smut like this.

Actually a preferred punishment would just to put them in a prison's general population. Kid touchers don't exactly stand at the top of the food chain when it comes to prisoners.

We have a very aggressive anti child porn and anti child sexual abuse justice system and law enforcement.

This was an amazing world wide bust. It was awesome. And the co-operation by law enforcement in all the other countries was stellar.

Citing a particularly egregious example, she said police found over 350,000 images and over 9,000 videos of child sexual abuse in the home of a retired Canadian school teacher.

Some of the images were of children known to the man and he was also charged with sexually abusing a child relative.

I don't know why everyone is always shocked that the people who are attracted to kids ends up working in professions where contact with kids is assured. Predators go where the prey is likely to be found.

For one thing, unions make it nearly impossible for teachers to get fired.

For another, our liberal education system is committed to sexualizing children at a very young age...they embrace that.

And that's evidenced by the huge number of depraved individuals who every once in a blue moon get caught. Imagine how many are out there that don't get caught. If 12 percent of that particular ring were teachers...the numbers nationwide are mind boggling.

Its not really surprising that people who abuse children would pick a profession that puts them near children.

It doesn't surprise me that schools harbor child predators, to a larger extent than any other profession.
