This thread is dedicated to songs that people know and may not realize what the song is actually about but they really like that song.

For instance the following song is not about an American woman it's anti-government/military...

*****SMILE*****

:)

NOTE: If you post a song please explain why you consider it contrary.

Right now the only song that comes to me is this one.

God bless you and Trace always!!!

Holly (a day one fan of him)

P.S. Let me know if it doesn't count, but I think that it fits the criteria of what is being asked here good enough.

Anti-Materialism.

Distance for consumerism. Worship of that false god.

. . . Not sure a lot of folks are familiar with it though.

Born in the USA.

A protest about the nation's treatment of Vets, lack of options for the lower classes, and the little regard the nation has for them.

"...It's for the most part a made-up story, which most of my songs are. These are stories that I come up with, and I do characters. Part of the story was true in the fact that I had gone out with a girl and my buddy had gone out with her after I went out with her, and then I went out with her again and then she ended up getting pregnant and having an abortion. But from there, there's poetic license that happens and makes the story more dramatic. A neophyte writer that I was, I ended up having her commit suicide, and that never happened."[3]
The Freshmen (song) - Wikipedia

This band played gigs on my college campus when I was a sophomore. Most folks around the nation, I gather, just thought it was about being a freshmen. We knew there was more to it.

Not so much about the devil, but the fact that we can find the devil coming out in ourselves, if we're not careful.

The Rolling Stones- Sympathy for the Devil

Up in the morning and out to school
Mother says there be no work next year
Qualifications once the Golden Rule
Are now just pieces of paper

Just because you're better than me doesn't mean I'm lazy
Just because you're going forwards doesn't mean I'm going backwards

Well if you look the part well then you'll get the job
In last year's trousers and your oldschool shoes

The truth is son it's a buyer's market
They can afford to pick and choose

Just because you're better than me doesn't mean I'm lazy
Just because I dress like this doesn't mean I'm a Communist

Well the factories are closing and the army's full
I don't know what I'm going to do

But I've come to see in the land of the free
There's only room for a chosen few

Just because you're better than me doesn't mean I'm lazy
Just because you're going forwards doesn't mean I'm going backwards

Well at 21 you're a top of the scrap heap
At 16 you were top of your class
Well I dropped outta high school in Campbell, California
Got a guitar and I never looked back
