Seems like the Ivies are really fighting AGAINST the attempt to ratchet down the antisemitism on campus. Now Cornell has invited a singer to perform who has bashed Jews, sings out “Long Live the Intifada!,” and shows a map where Israel has be eliminated from the planet.

Clearly, the safety and well-being of Jewish students at Cornell is not a concern.

The First Amendment gives people the right to express themselves, whether you agree with it or not.
I don't see how that answers what I ask, and this isn't an issue of the first amendment. Not every person has the automatic right to say whatever he wants in any place and at any time. There are both prior restraints and cause of action after the fact, and an invitation to perform at a private institution isn't a guaranteed right either.

Nothing more exemplifies the similarities of the two crime families like their absurd support of the Zionist apartheid regime…of course, the Israeli lobby buys the support of the crime families and many Americans of the uniparty support this corruption.

Trump Supporters Don't Understand Free Speech

CAITLIN JOHNSTONE

The Trump administration continues to arrest and deport people for criticizing Israel’s genocidal atrocities in Gaza and the US empire’s support for it — and Trump’s supporters continue to applaud these abuses. To call this hypocritical after the way these people spent years rending their garments about the erosion of the First Amendment would be a massive understatement.

The hypocrisy of Trumpists cheerleading the president’s assaults on free speech makes it clear that they have no idea why free speech ever came to be valued in our society in the first place. They think freedom of speech is so esteemed because it feels nice to be able to say whatever you want, and it upsets their feelings when people tell them they shouldn’t say “retard” or make unkind remarks about trans people — which people are allowed to do under the Trump administration.

They seriously think it’s all about them and their feelings. They’ve never put any more thought or research into it than that.

Yes, they do have the right to say what they want when they want...There may be repercussions, but that is the cost of expression. Private institutions have the right to allow who they want on their campus.

Not if they oppose Israel’s genocide.

If institutions start banning and sanctioning folks for opinions you don't like, then soon, once a new government is in power. . . they can then ban and sanction opinions you do like.

. . . unless of course all politicians are corrupted and bought off.

The American Zionist hasn’t thought that far, though any aware 12 year old knows this.

no, they don't. Look up "prior restraint"
There may be repercussions, but that is the cost of expression. Private institutions have the right to allow who they want on their campus.
but they have no obligation, and can put limits on what someone can say at the institution.

As I have done, only to be denounced by nearly every member of this forum. Apparently many Americans oppose the 1A, but only if one expresses their opposition to Israel’s genocide.
That is the beauty of the first you don't need people to approve.

Institutions have been "banning" speakers for years. Some crazy guy wanders on campus and says "I want to speak here" and the campus can say "no thanks" for any number of reasons. There is no inherent right to speak wherever you want.
