Cuts to Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid – Trump cannot be trusted or believed

President Trump and DOGE have NO POWER TO DO ANYTHING TO SS OR MEDICARE! Jesus Fucking Christ, why is this such a difficult concept to understand?
While they may have no legal means of cutting funding, DOGE does have the power to affect Social Security, and Medicare and Medicaid for that matter. They have closed Social Security offices. There have already been notices sent out to some Social Security beneficiaries. They have to answer a questionnaire, recertify as it were. Failure to do so, checks stop.

The purpose of both actions, make it more difficult to sign-up, make it more difficult to keep benefits. I mean I got to ask, why is Medicare sending a note to my 84 year old Mom asking her to "certify" that she doesn't have a job. Are you kidding me? Same goes for cuts to the VA, many of those jobs involved intake, and maintaining staff. Just make it more difficult to get, people fall through the cracks, we save money.

Trump added 7-8 TRILLION to the debt because if his tax cuts.

I'm for addressing BOTH the revenue and spending side. Is it true that you want ignore the revenue side and just claim it's all due to spending?

No, in the long term tax cuts increase revenue. The problem is that most lefties are for instant gratification. Raising taxes certainly increases revenue in the short term, but not in the long term and the economy slows. In 5 years, it is time to raise taxes again to account for the shortfall. It is dumb, short-term thinking. Let people keep more of the money they earn and they will spend it. The economy grows organically and more tax revenue is generated.

That being said, spending does need to be addressed as well.

The trump tax cuts of 2016 raised income to the US Treasury

The wealthy pay most of the federal income tax
Yes, I agree, the rich do pay the vast majority of federal income taxes. That is a problem, but the answer is not more tax cuts for the wealthy. They pay the vast majority of the taxes because they take an even bigger share of the income. And every time, every time we cut their taxes, they end up with an even greater share of all income.

The problem is in the system itself.

Republicans complained for a decade about poor service in the Veterans Administration. As a result we invested in the VA to expand and modernize.

Trump is cutting 80,000 jobs (1 in 6) and claiming there will be no impact on veterans.

How long will the public buy his…..I am only cutting workers who do nothing lies
Supposedly in government there is overlap. Also, there are people who are not that good as employees which is a smear to those who are good.

Not always. Sometimes, tax cuts damage the economy in the long term. The Paradox of Thrift comes to mind. It all depends on what the consumers do with that tax cut revenue, and that depends on who gets it.

Is that a crime?

Your goal seems to be punishing the rich for bring rich

Well, in the case of TCJA, everyone got cuts, with the exception of the lower upper class, who actually saw a 2% increase due to adjustments made to the brackets. No, we don't know if people will spend or save any tax cuts they may receive, but if the government tax more, they won't have money to do either. Some essentials aside, the government should not be the intermediary to determine how the money we earn is redistributed.

They should not be punished for being rich, but neither should they be rewarded. Tax all income the same, no matter where it came from. We are going to have to a hard look at the estate tax. No cap on income subject to Social Security tax.

Right, because many are business owners. People get to keep more money, thus they buy more stuff from the "rich" business owners. The "poor" people have more stuff and the rich people have more money. The economy flourishes. Win/win. The "poor" people could decide to save the money too, but they typically don't.

‘Trump has again insisted that he won't be touching Social Security benefits, alongside Medicare and Medicaid, and instead will be looking to remove "tremendous fraud" from the system.

Why It Matters

Social Security benefits are a vital source of income for tens of millions of Americans. An estimated 53 million retirees—roughly 16 percent of the population—were collecting monthly payments at the end of 2024.

Meanwhile, Medicaid is the largest program providing medical and health-related services to low-income individuals, and Medicare is a federal health insurance program for people aged 65 or older, and for some younger individuals with certain disabilities or conditions.

The president's update also comes after the House Republicans' budget, which critics believed would result in the "gutting" of Medicaid, was passed in the House, ramping up the concerns that the new administration would make major cuts to the health program.’

The ludicrous notion of a criminal president and pathological liar with 34 felony fraud convictions looking for ‘fraud’ – we’re supposed to believe that Trump would veto legislation with cuts to Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid.
Boy you sure love spreading fake news.

How are they being rewarded by being taxed less, but still more than everyone else?

Estate tax shouldn't exist...period.

No way on removing the cap on income subject to Social Security tax. That is absolutely absurd. It is a HUGE tax increase on the group that already pays the vast majority of taxes. A self-employed business owner making 276k/per would be paying an additional $12,400(12.4%) in SS tax alone. Completely absurd idea, only supported by those that don't care because they aren't affected.

You want marxism

If we tax all income at the same rate the poor would spend mote for taxes

But of course you only want to tax the rich

And then there is the estate tax

Do you want government to seize homes and farms when the owner dies instead of allowing them to leave their life's work to their children?

That evil

While doing nothing directly they certainly haven't ruled out indirectly, such as letting the lower reimbursement payments that took effect Jan 1 stand as they left it out of the CR.

Doctors Outraged Republican Congress To Allow Medicare Pay Cut

“Physicians across the country are outraged that Congress’s proposed spending package locks in a devastating fifth consecutive year of Medicare cuts, threatening access to care for 66 million Medicare patients," the AMA’s Scott said. “Despite repeated warnings, lawmakers are once again ignoring the dire consequences of these cuts and their impact both on patients and the private practices struggling to keep their doors open.”

Why wasn't it devastating the past four years when Xiden was doing it?

Where did I say it wasn't?

Nowhere, that's the point, nobody seemed to care when Xiden was doing it
From what I just found, and you can too, is those cuts were for quite a few years under Trump's last budget in his first term.
