Does anyone think that bathrooms should not be next to bedrooms?

I was thinking about this the other day. I know the convenience of having a bathroom connected to a bedroom. The problem that I have with it is this......the bathroom smells are right there......then, you also have the issue of an over flowing toilet right next to, and possibly leaking into, your bedroom. I would much rather have a bathroom down the hall, as inconvenient as that might be at night....

Im glad my master bedroom has a bathroom right there.
I do agree about the leaks though. I recently had to tear up the carpet in my bedroom because of a leak.

Proper active venting takes care of the odor issue, and leaks will fuck things up regardless of where they are in the house.

But a 10 foot dash for a clench run instead of a 40 foot one? Priceless.

I rarely take a crap in the middle of the night
My toilet overflows about once every ten years

I get up to pee every night

I like both locations. The en suite is very convenient for the shower proximity to the bedroom. Then the one down the hall is a full bathroom with a bathtub and shower. I have to have my baths, rub-a-dub-dub! 🛀

I cut a new door in, so I didn't have to walk through the living room to get to the bathroom at night. No problem with odors as I don't poop in the middle of the night. Toilet has not overflowed in 40 years (I always keep an eye on it when flushing).
