Stories like this show how much of a tragedy was the Romans leaving Britain. How many centuries it set us back is anyones guess.
The romans had central heating while the Brits were painting their faces blue. And the Germans for that matter. And the French.

i was interested in the saxons for a while, the great heathen army , alfred the great and such.

there is a reason those are called the dark ages.
