Five Year Old Killed While Crossing The Street

According to police, the family was actively crossing the street when the light changed. The video of the intersection shows it was an intersection that has "walk-don't walk" signs as well. This means that the family chose to walk out into the intersection when the sign would have been showing the "don't walk" symbol. The fault should fall mainly on the family's adults that chose to ignore the "don't walk" symbol and walk into the street.
There has been a significant increase in the number of people that ignore the "walk-don't walk" signs and even cross busy streets in the middle of the block. If they get hit by cars/trucks, the driver should not be held accountable for pedestrian stupidity.

I don't mean to sound insensitive in any way, but if it were my kid, I would either be too distraught or too enraged to even say anything for a news report filming so soon.

God bless you and everyone who loved the little angel always!!!

Although I don't know for sure, I think that the driver not seeing the little girl was simply just a case of texting and driving. Rest easy in the arms of Jesus little one. RIP. 😢

A sad statistic:

Each year, approximately 626 child-pedestrian fatalities occur. Young children are at a higher risk for pedestrian injury and death because they don’t understand traffic rules and risks. In addition, parents and caregivers often overestimate their children’s traffic knowledge and skills. The maturity level of children younger than 10 years makes them unable to correctly gauge the speed of vehicles putting them at greater risk for injury and death.
