50 years ago, being gay was classified as a mental illness. Then the APA decided that "I think it's icky" wasn't a good enough reason to keep it there.

The science was always there to show that there are lots of things that can cause people to be gay.

That's not what the science says. Sexuality develops over the course of your entire life. You don't remember being attracted to girls on the play ground. I do. I have pretty green eyes. I had a gang of girlfriends in first grade who would wait with me and my brother (who also has green eyes) after school for our parents to pick us up and if I'm remembering correctly puberty doesn't start in first grade.
