OK, my wife and I are still settling into our new digs, went back to apartment living. Suffice it to say, we have a good relationship with our landlady who lives downstairs and are going to undertake a joint project. Her electric is still protected by fuses and needs to be upgraded. And it will run somewhere between $22-2300. She is going to handle the labor/permit and I am going to handle the materials end of it. Since my past experience with Graybar and a local electric contractor, I've learned how to get the best price possible for good quality parts for the project. Once all is said and done, she will have upgraded electric with breakers and new lights/outlets in the basement and the basement electric will be "zoned" separate from the apartments (duplex).

Not sure if that is a good idea. It's like hiring your nephew to do and skilled job. Something can go wrong and your relationship suffers.
