"GOP Lawmakers Want To Do Something About Food Stamps’ Freeloader Problem

GOP lawmakers are proposing major reforms to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), including work requirements for a vast swathe of eligible participants, the Daily Caller News Foundation (DCNF) has learned.

Republican Oklahoma Rep. Josh Brecheen and Utah Sen. Mike Lee will reintroduce the SNAP Reform and Upward Mobility Act (SRUMA) Thursday. The legislation would impose work requirements on food stamp recipients between the ages of 18 and 64, including individuals with children of six years of age or older.

Able-bodied adults with no dependents between the ages of 18 and 54 are currently eligible for three months of SNAP benefits over three years before work requirements start to kick in, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), which oversees the program."

Get rid of the illegals and get the Americans on welfare back to work. Welfare is supposed to be a safety net, not a Democrat base hammock.

It already is a safety net, not a hammock dumb ass. Maybe you should read data from the Department instead of bs tweets from othe right wing extremists.

Democrats will do everything in their power to defeat it.

Good.

The Food Stamp Program was established in 1965 to help an estimated 300,000 Americans. Ten years later, 30,000,000 people were dependent on them. This is how Democrats enslave people with their "kindness."

The LBJ Welfare Plantation plan.

I like it, but there’s still a problem.

Say you have a single mother with three kids - 5, 7, and 9 - and none of the fathers are helping feed their kids. So she gets around $800 a month (tax-free….so it’s like earning $1000) for her family.

But she knows that the following year, the youngest will be 6, and she loses all the free food. So she gets pregnant, and by the time the baby is born, she is back to free food for the entire family - only now, with a family of 5, it jumps to $1000 tax-free a month.

What we would be doing is encouraging women to keep having babies to keep the youngest under 6.

You think women are gonna have a child to make $200 a month are you insane?

$200 a month is a small fraction of the total additional welfare benefits received. Are you insane or just uninformed?

Not $200. She gets to keep the ENTIRE food stamp allotment for the whole family. That would be around $1000, or $1200 a month if she had to earn it and pay taxes.

He’s a leftist - so he’s both.

So if one kid ages out she loses all her food stamps allotment?

I think not
