Hamas' rule is illegitimate

The people and the legislative procedure

Since Palestine has no legitimate president to call for elections, the constitution specifies the procedure to follow. The speaker of parliament is to temporarily assume the office of the president and call for elections within 60 days.

Which has not been done and I believe under the Oslo accords the P.A. is dissolved as it was a temporary office until such time as the P.A. had made peace with Israel and agreed mutual borders. It is all in the Oslo accords if you bother to look, so hamas was elected illegally as the statute of limitations ran out in 1999.

So, what does the expired Oslo agreement have to do with the Palestinians forming a new government in 2002?

There never were Gaza elections. There are not supposed to be Gaza elections.

Does anyone expect to get a rational answer out of this piece of shit?

To anyone sane, it is obvious that hamas has blocked elections for over 5 years; and its illegal expulsion of Fatah officials, usually off the tops of buildings, should have brought the World community down upon this Taliban-like regime in gaza.

What surprises me about moronic leftish fucking trash like this is that they claim they are for human rights, civil rights, women's rights, gay rights, against the killing of children, etc., and then they turn around and defend this regime - who is guilty of violating every one of those rights routinely, and makes no effort to hide it.

As a heavy web forum/social media user, I've noticed that the support for the arabs is way, way down during/after this conflict as compared to some of the others; and I believe the cause is the heinousness of hamas and other vile islamic terrorist groups. The only ones still defending them are the lunatics and those who hate jews so much that nothing the islamist filth does will deter them from providing support/protection for the muslim trash.

rhodescholar, it gets even better. The reason Hamas fought Fatah and killed them all was a pre-emptive strike because Fatah was going to overthrow Hamas right after the elections in 2006. And the Bush administration was behind it, arming Fatah with weapons and other support.

David Rose, a reporter for Vanity Fair said so.

And it is true. Several independent sources say the same thing.

And it also matches the facts on the ground.

Article III:
Elections:
1. In order that the Palestinian people in the West Bank and Gaza Strip may govern themselves according to democratic principles, direct, free and general political elections will be held for the Council under agreed supervision and international observation, while the Palestinian police will ensure public order.

2. An agreement will be concluded on the exact mode and conditions of the elections in accordance with the protocol attached as Annex I, with the goal of holding the elections not later than nine months after the entry into force of this Declaration of Principles.

3. These elections will constitute a significant interim preparatory step toward the realisation of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and their just requirements

Article V:
Transitional period and permanent status negotiations:
1. The five-year transitional period will begin upon the withdrawal from the Gaza Strip and Jericho area.

2. Permanent status negotiations will commence as soon as possible, but not later than the beginning of the third year of the interim period, between the Government of Israel and the Palestinian people's representatives.

3. It is understood that these negotiations shall cover remaining issues, including: Jerusalem, refugees, settlements, security arrangements, borders, relations and co-operation with other neighbours, and other issues of common interest.

4. The two parties agree that the outcome of the permanent status negotiations should not be prejudiced or pre-empted by agreements reached for the interim period.

It seems that the PA spends a lot of time in La La Land.

Tinmore, still no answer as to why Gaza has not had any elections since Hamas came into power??

The president calls elections and Abbas's term in office expired on January 9, 2009.

Round and round and round he goes, where he stops, everyone know. Never stops. Abbas is part of Fatah. Hamas threw Fatah out of Gaza. Hamas rules Gaza, Fatah rules the West Bank. Any 'unity' gov't has yet to stick.

Abbas does not decide when Gaza holds elections Tinmore.

So...once again.....Why hasn't Gaza held elections since Hamas came into power???

Abbas has been trying to hold elections but hamas would not cooperate.
