Zone1 Having an amazing time in Thailand!!! Beautiful women, wonderful food, and great weather

I see lots of Australians, New Zealanders out here.

That’s what this whole thing about the lady boys. It’s both funny but also kind of blown out of proportion. It’s really really simple and easy to see if there is a lady boy in Thailand. You can tell by their voice and they will always always let you know. Still the lady boys in Thailand, actually look much more feminine than the trans women or American lady boys of which many of them even still have beards or they’re sporting a big time beer belly
You were touching yourself while you were typing that, weren't you?

Thailand is great!

Had a great time there, this time I was able to get together with a couple of expat meetups at various sports bars and pick the brains of some Americans who live there, I spent 6 weeks there this time and am researching whether it would be a winter time future refuge, but I'm not optimistic, because there is one thing that feels like it might be a deal breaker: AQI.

The air quality while I was there was a 10, meaning the worst score on a scale of 1-10. My last 3 weeks there I had a slight sore throat and slight cough, and at first I thought I was catching a cold, but then on Facebook of all places I saw a graphic on the air quality.

It's bad, and I don't like walking around wearing a mask, but that would be required for extended time spent there.

I do love Thailand though, but wonder if I can find better air quality in SE Asia.

Last year I was in Bangkok while the Buffalo Bills were in the playoffs. Got to watch the game with another guy who is from Buffalo. Bills lost though

But now it’s the year for Josh Allen… this time I’ll be watching the playoffs in Cambodia!

As for the air quality. Bangkok is a work in progress. There is so much to be proud of though when it comes to Bangkok.

Bangkok is amazing… people are some of the friendliest in the world. Beautiful shopping centers. Safety is no issue unlike big cities in the USA. Great great food! The cities infrastructure has advanced tremendously in the past 20 years

Did you also have lots of fresh, tropical fruits? Thailand has the best fruits, cheap, delicious and plentiful.

Thais are also quite peaceful, non-violent people. You typically don't have to worry about being robbed or shot here compared to other parts of the world.

Really? I thought Europeans had been cooking with saffron for hundreds of years.
It's their location.
Saffron comes out of Iran and Afghanistan.
Cardamom comes out of India.

Saffron has been used extensively as a medium of exchange (like gold or silver) due to its high value and low weight. Usually the captain of a ship would have a stash of it to help with paying bribes or exchanging it for gold at a port similar to what the English would do for silver out of India with the East India Trading company (who paid in script)

24k gold wire is used as a medium of exchange currently in Thailand. It tends to be more stable than their currency or any of the surrounding currencies.

Lots of things are available in Thailand that are not necessarily available in other markets.

Wow, I didn't know any of this. I only knew that saffron was expensive and very difficult to cook with, as in, it was easy to use but difficult to make the dish taste good with it. It would take real skill to be able to cook with it well.

Both Saffron and Cardamom are widely available. Go to any Assyrian restaurant and order rice--it will have saffron threads on it. As for cardamom--I posted a link to Walmart where there are at least eight different products---from ground to whole green cardamom. Granted, saffron is not cheap, but it is available.

I think he's talking historically. Of course nowadays we can find stuff at Walmart. It might be different hundreds of years ago.

Because in today's society most people have no idea what real saffron tastes or smells like so they miss the balances when blending with other flavors....

Hey, yellow food coloring, tamarind and a bit of mustard....nobody knows the difference.....except for me because I usually have some on hand. (I like paella, a Spanish dish....I'm a recovering chef in a 12-step program but still having issues with that first step)

Yes, the fruit is very good here. And I have yet to try the famous Durian fruit.

But that said the dragon, fruit, even the apples and the pears seem to But that said, the dragon fruit, even the apples and the have a much better taste compared to what I get in the USA.

I enjoy the persimmon as well in Cambodia … I haven’t seen much of it in the states

I agree that safety is not really an issue in Cambodia or Thailand. The worst you have are scams or pickpocket. But the violent muggings are pretty much unheard of. Because for example they have something known as “death by 100 fists” in Cambodia …..a form of social justice where if somebody tries to rob another person basically the surrounding people will intervene and stop it.
