As I stated before, anyone can edit Wiki. Ham was a Black man, as was Noah his father, his son Canaan, his son Cush who founded Ethiopia and Nubia, his son Mizraim who founded Egypt, his son Phut who founded Libya. and his grandson Nimrod who founded Sumer/Babylon. This Brother made such an impact on the early western frontier that his exploits are legendary. Yet, he remains virtually unknown. The man who discovered a route through the sierras, now called Beckwourth's pass, is n where to be found in most history books. The man who was captured by Crow Indians as a young man and subsequently rose to be a Chief goes unheralded in a history controlled by Whites. Beckwourth was involved in other exploits too numerous to outline here. The main poiint though, is that Beckwourth's blackness devalued his contributions. Like Hannibal, Beckwourth's bigger than life persona and historical significance elevated his Black brethren too high for White society. That observance was especially acute in 1951. In that year, the movie Tomahawk portrayed beckwourth as a White man. Why would any of us expect them to let Hannibal's Blackness escape the same fate.. Strangely enough, I believe the presidency of Obama has caused more accurate depictions of Blacks and their contributions to history. I hope that will continue.
