If it's not me then it's not valid.

They will elect a Pope that is in step with understanding the balance of power in the world right now.

Just as they did what was best for them during the rise of the 3rd. Reich.

It will be enlightening!

The idea of holding a popularity contest to determine Papal infallibility is preposterous.

I don't mean to be critical but this looks like the coronation of a King from centuries ago. Does any other religion do this?
Everyone knows that the Papacy is the last remnant of the old Roman Empire.
College of Cardinals for a Senate....Latin the language of choice...Saints for the old Gods and Goddesses.
the Pope claims secular power..so...yeah..coronation is about right.

A little more than an hour later, we meet the newly elected Pope of the Roman Catholic Church as his holiness emerges from the Vatican balcony.

As the new Pope's name is read, the faithful, thousands who are present at Vatican square and on the streets of Rome, welcome and cheer the 267th predecessor to St. Peter,
Pope Leo the 14th, who is an American Cardinal, originally a native from Chicago. He ministered in Latin American.

Here's a little about Cardinal Robert Prevost who is 69 years old.

A lot of hoopla about something so insignificant.
Don't mean that as disrespectful, but it is a guy in a white costume.
And usually a really old guy that has lived his life in a bubble of existence that is completely disconnected from the rest of the world

The last Leo to sit the Papacy was a social reformer.

The last pope to take the name Leo was Pope Leo XIII. He served as the head of the Roman Catholic Church from February 20, 1878, until his death on July 20, 190325. Born Vincenzo Gioacchino Raffaele Luigi Pecci in 1810, he was notable for his efforts to modernize the Church, promote social reform, and encourage harmony between science and religion34. Leo XIII was the longest-lived pope in history, dying at the age of 935.

His papacy was marked by significant diplomatic engagement, the revival of Thomist philosophy, and the issuance of important encyclicals such as Rerum Novarum, which addressed the rights and conditions of workers4. After his death, he was succeeded by Pope Pius X.

THE SIGNIFICANCE taking the name
Leo XIV-
Pope Leo XIII’s Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel is prophetic. Composed over 100 years ago, and then suppressed, Pope Leo XIII’s original Prayer to St. Michael is one of the most interesting and controversial prayers relating to the present situation in which the true Catholic Church finds itself. On September 25, 1888, following his morning mass he collapsed and had an event Shaken deeply from it he came up with the Prayer for protection.
