I got the best mother's day present a few years back. My little baby girl was born on Mother's Day. What a special gift!

Honor thy mother and Father means--Whatever choices you make in your life will reflect back onto your parents.
It does not mean set a day aside as a celebration.

In the long run - yes- you could be a reflection of your parents by the choices you make, etc.

It can also mean on a more personal level as well - if you believe that you are a reflection of your parents (The good at least) then why wouldn't you want to acknowledge that on a personal level?

On a spiritual level it also means to "honor those that came before you."

The patriarchy was established long before civilization. Within nature, the majority of species, including mammals, the males are larger, stronger -expected to be willing to lose their lives defending the females and their children. (There are a few exceptions - Hyenas, Lemurs - and a few species where the females take a more active role but the majority of the rest are patriarchies) It is visible every single day within the Animal Kingdom.

Homo Sapiens are no different - the vast majority of males are naturally larger, stronger and have higher levels of testosterone than their female counterparts. This may sound like a silly reason to establish a patriarchy in modern times but 6000+ years ago, Homo Sapiens not only had to defend themselves against animals within the Animal Kingdom - they had to defend their families and tribes against other Homo Sapiens. Later on during ancient civilizations, the vast majority of work required blunt physical labor.

If what you say is true that "A & E" were essentially some sort of experiment established by the heavens to see if they could triumph over evil then why would the heavens make the male species larger, stronger and suited to be the patriarch in a very hostile world? Had they wanted matriarchy or more "equal" physical roles during those times they could have easily created A & E with larger, more physically dominant females - like Hyenas, Lemurs, etc. Yes?

The vast majority of Ancient Civilizations were governed by monarchies - making them essentially totalitarian - further enforcing the patriarchy. - THOUSANDS OF YEARS PRIOR TO THE ROMAN CIVILIZATION AND centuries prior to Moses walking the Earth.

The Greeks - followed by the Romans are the cornerstones of the foundation of democracy on the planet. The Roman Republic is the blue print for democracies worldwide to this day. Within The Roman Republic - the seeds of departing from a full patriarchal system were planted when Roman Women were given rights similar to their male counterparts:

They attended public and private banquets, even though they were excluded from most political and religious ceremonies. While they would never have been allowed to vote or hold office, Roman women were considered full “cives Romanae” and enjoyed private rights that were comparable to Roman males (i.e. inheritance).

This blue print eventually led to women having equal rights and departure from the patriarchal system in the vast majority of modern day democracies. Yes - indeed - you have your so called "crucifiers" to thank for that.
