"Medicare for all," or single-payer healthcare funded by the government. This would be a gargantuan change that would put health insurers (which employ more than half a million people) out of business, end employer-provider insurance and disrupt many other elements of the healthcare system. Right wing supporters like to go about bragging that the U.S. is number one in the world, clearly are missing an important fact. When it comes to health care......we're......27th in the world. Number one in the world is....France. It's a one payer system with great health care for its people and yes, it does come out of the taxes. But there's nothing wrong with that if its great health care. You simply walk into a clinic/hospital, fill in a health care form and when you're done, walk out. No huge losing your home or being unable to get a needed transplant because you can't afford it. As for the people who work in the health insurance industry, they can be retrained.
Oh yes, we're also only something like 36th in education in the world. About the only thing I can think we are number one in is the military (and are slowly being overtaken by China) and that's about it. Oh yeah, we're number one in consuming things.
