The head of FEMA is begging people on the coast to evacuate, Houston is too close for this storm, he looks monster size.

DEVELOPING: More than 700 troops deployed to assist with Harvey threat

DEVELOPING: Gov. Abbott declares state of disaster for 30 counties in Texas

In anticipation of Tropical Depression Harvey making landfall in the Gulf Coast region, Gov. Greg Abbott on Wednesday preemptively declared a State of Disaster for 30 counties, including Jefferson. So we bailout the red states again, every year almost, they need the Federal gobmint to
keep their shitty states alive? But they seem to want to shut down, and close the federal gobmint
and make all this a states responsibility. FFS! No wonder they lost the civil war.

The state (texASS) pays no state income taxes, they're getting federal help AGAIN!
But FFS! year after year federal insurance covers some of it. Lets these places die. If
they're too stupid to buy flood insurance. Leave them to be victimized by their red states BS!
Wait, we subsidize that as well if they don't buy insurance.

Caring one thang, FREE Flood insurance and repairs is another. Recall 2008.

Hurricane Ike, a storm that struck the Texas Gulf Coast in 2008, was the kind of event that’s often described as a wake-up call. Hurricane Harvey, which is expected to strike near Corpus Christi early Friday, could show whether the region actually woke up.

There homes on post.

The federal gobmint is about the only insurer for these homes.
In texASS located at the shores. I can only hope all that oil that was
never collected by BP is pushed up onshore. From the ocean bottom.
Maybe this will turn them off, from rebuilding for the 200th time, the oil stink! Enjoy!

Oh, shut up. It's our duty as Americans to help our fellow countymen in times of natural disasters. It's what we do, so can the petty partisan nonsense.

How is it partisan? I care not of party here. There are many places that are hit over and over
in the red states.
FEMA has a map. At what point do we stop providing funds to rebuild in these places like above IKE photo shows destroyed?

Maybe the right place for the great DOUCHE wall is in these places, protecting home from flooding. But I really think, if you buy these
homes etc.., say after flooded 3 times, NO MORE gobmint backed insurance. It's very conservative idea.

And nowhere is the media reporting on the devastation that will take place in the northeastern part of Mexico just south of Brownsville.

Why should there be? There like 20 miles inland. They don't live in the flood zones. And Mexico won't rebuild their shit.

More mean than simply conservative. Is former President Bush (and family) still in Maine for the summer? I want him SAFE.

How mean? These are just the facts. Facts are not mean or partisan. Say for these homes, if you can't get insurance. you need to have 450k in funds ready to rebuild. I would think for most, rebuilding three times, plus if there is a mortgage, would make many goessss else where to live. Like 3-20 miles inland. Many are rentals.

You made it partisan when you essentially said "it's a red state, fuck em."
They are. That are the facts.

btw. The Gulf of Mexico coastal here and most of the hit, over and over, in the tornado ally, are is all red states.

See!

Natural disasters hit every state; the mid Atlantic up to Maine gets storms from the ocean, and those are usually blue states. California gets earthquakes and droughts. Disaster funding and relief are ESSENTIAL acts of government.
