I Bought This Marlin Today

Marlin Firearms.

Didn't see Ruger on it anywhere.

Even the box said Marlin.

OK so it's new old stock then. Nice find. :)

Ruger bought out Marlin a few years back and is producing roughly the same rife now under the Ruger brand....I believe they have a couple different models of the .45-70 out now. The rail can be bought from the same company that made them for "Marlin" which at the time was really Remington Outdoors.

They are now also producing the old Marlin 336 in .30-30.....I've not seen one of those yet....Looks nice.

The MSRP sucks balls at $1200 but I figure once the "new" wears off they will be closer to $900.00.....About what a older JM Marlin .30-30 in nice shape is fetching these days.

OMG! That can shoot down the space shuttle!
If you understand ballistics you know that the 45/70 round is a big fat heavy antique bullet designed for a black powder gun and will probably knock you on your ass with the recoil when loaded with smokeless.

Here we see who has never fired a .45-70....In both smokeless and BP. ;)
