I don’t predict it will, but let’s consider the possibility the Coronavirus becomes a serious threat

Let’s say the virus gets so bad that it becomes paramount that it becomes necessary to develop a vaccine. Or better yet, let’s say the next viral threat comes around and it’s deadlier than the Coronavirus. Keep in mind that this is bound to happen at some point in the future.

Do republicans think the private market healthcare system would save us? A vaccine or treatment would be critical, but people would still have to pay for it. What if it was too expensive? What if most people couldn’t afford it because the private company who would own the vaccine wants to make money.

Shouldn’t something like that be free no matter what (As in no shit it would cost tax payer revenue to create but it should be immediately regardless of one’s personal finance at the time)?

Well...considering our private healthcare has created the most elite superpower healthcare in the world, a rational person would already know the answer to your very ignorant question.

It's already been considered 280 ways till Sunday

A. Nobody is ever denied life-saving treatment in the United States. Stop your bullshit propaganda already.

B. Your inability to pay today is no indication of your ability to pay tomorrow. So give them the vaccine and put them on a payment plan. Problem solved.

The private healthcare system “saved us” from polio, streptococcus, syphilis, AIDS, and a zillion other healthcare issues.

do we need single payer to pay for everyone’s flu shots? If you understood anything about economics you wouldn’t start this assume thread. Profit margins wouldn’t be high if everyone needed a vaccine. Idiot.

You don’t go to an ER to get a vaccine you dumb sack of shit. Also, if everyone went to the ER to get treatment, obviously that would overwhelm the department.

Obviously the private market could MAKE a vaccine but obviously it also matters that the vaccine is completely accessible to the population.

The vaccine should go to righties. If there are any left after all the righties have theirs, the remaining vaccines could then be auctioned off to the highest bidding lefties.

I know, let's say they develop a vaccine for coronavirus, and it's only 29% effective...just like last years flu shot.

There are like a dozen big pharma companies working on this problem so yes the "private market" is doing the heavy lifting. As for the eventual price, it will depend on what it costs to manufacture as to what is reasonable.

Lol oh great. Yeah let’s see what the fair market value will be for a vaccine that would likely require immediate accessibility to ANYONE.

All vaccines manufactured are accessible to everyone.....why wouldn't this one as well? The greater majority of the population has some form of insurance to cover atleast part of the cost of those vaccines, whether private insurance or Medicaid. Not sure if Medicare covers it or not, but those on it usually have supplemental insurance that does.

If you think a Communist/Socialist healthcare for everyone would work better than what we have now...…..take a closer look at China and the greater numbers infected and;/or died from it under their medical programs and see which country has the best care..

Well invent your own cure and give it away on amazon if you want.

If you’re not going to the ER, then whatever it was wasn’t “life-saving”, you imbecile. :eusa_doh:
