I thought America was the land of the free? I need a referral to pay a Texas MRI company for a self-pay MRI?!

Errr, what is this?

Maybe an anomaly as the other companies I reached out to didn't require this.

I am desperate enough to have these same location pains behind my eye go away that I would get an MRI on a boat cruise if they offered it. My own country has weaponized our healthcare and used the creepiest of the Creepy Ones to interfere in the proper treatment of my health.

Many American where taken in with that marketing slogan. And the retarded ones still believe it.

Do you know admissions to ER's here cost over $1K ?

first thing they check (after he triage nurse) is your HC insurance

good insurance goes to the head of the line

crappy insurance sits the bench

That isn't how any ER I've ever heard about works. ER scheduling is all about triage, the worst ailment or injury gets treated first. I've been in ERs on a couple of occasions with fairly serious problems. one a concussion and another a broken bone and saw indigent gangbangers with gunshot wounds taken ahead of me because their injuries were life-threatening. One another occasion I went in with a history of tightness in my chest hat had gone away and was taken immediately ahead of the others in the crowded ER because it could have been life-threatening.

I said 'after triage' AZ

The follow up of specialists would be the focus

Not sure of the OP's particulars, but my job is scheduling appointments for a large public hospital system. All day long I get calls asking for this type of specialist at that hospital. One of the first things I need to know is "Do you have a referral?". Often the answer is "No, my insurance doesn't require a referral for this". Me: "Sorry, but the hospital requires it", even if it's self pay.

I guess getting a refferal for everything doesn't bother me because I been using HMO's for many years, it is no big deal to me just an extra step to go through.

When the USA transforms into socialized medicine this will make healthcare so much easier for many.

You had your MRI in Canada and received a report that there was nothing detected that would need attention.

However, in fairness, you did claim that your MRI was switched for someone else's by the doctor or the hospital. You should pursue justice on that criminal activity by the creepy ones first, before you get too involved with fighting Texas.
